An M-14 is great for punch at a distance. It’s probably not what you want in your hands if you’re clearing a building. One size does not fit all. Bingo. I'll take an M4 over an M1A or M14 in that application every time.

I'd prefer a shotgun over an M4 inside a building, plus a .30 cal in at least one buddy's hand to deal with somebody firing from behind what he thinks is cover
