global warming hell
Taking a local ... not global warming angle on this story.
Last week, Q13 announced Friday AM that if you wanted to go camping Memorial weekend, you were SOL. All the campgrounds were reporting 100% reservations as of Thursday AM.
Now with the ever increasing gas costs, local camping would make for a nice holiday. Fortunatly for me, Mrs Rainman and I made camping reservations a few weeks back. We were at a campground in East King County, and on Saturday it was definitly pretty full, but not 100% full. In fact, at least 4 of the 40 campsites were available. Come Sunday, most of the people bugged out, and on Sunday night, at least half the 40 camping spots were empty.
We were really kinda PO’d about this ... how many people wanted to go camping, but did not even try because the media wanted a sensational story? They probably could have truely hit 100% had they reported 90% reserved Sat and 50% Sunday.
The weather forecast for the weekend was not great, but it actually turned out to be a great weekend for camping.
Finally, the number of native’s that were camping was about 10%. Most of the campers were families that immigrated to America. A big Korean Family, another Russian one, a couple from Germany ... not sure what to make of that stat other than to say apparantly the foreigners still know how to stretch a vacation dollar.
who does the fact checking for these newsmen? the weather channel predicted raill all weekend, and as you know it hardly rained.
cedardave- awesome pictures. is the snow in NM typically gone by now?
I’d love to steal your photos.
Very heavy snowy winter, very late spring in northern NM. Southern NM dry as a weathered desert bone. Photos from a railfan website. Very pretty trip when weather cooperates.
