Prayers up for all the people of Hugo. This was a development with many children. So sad when the little ones are hurt.

How ‘out including Parkersburg, IA in that? 2 confirmed dead, + 3 more unconfirmed, most of the southern part of town destroyed...2 more dead in New Hartford, IA....

Yes, definitely, prayers for the people of Parkersburg and all the others who are in the path of these devastating storms.

I can’t remember a tornado season as bad as this one.

it looks like we won’t get ours until the wee hours. I have a little bag packed and have it beside the basement door. Hubby made fun of me. (for that I will NOT share the large bottle of Aleve I have in the little tote bag)

I will pray for your daughter’s safety. My gosh, what a weather day.

Thanks for the graphics. That’s quite a swath being cut by the storms...all the way from Texas to Minnesota.

I hope and pray it all calms down soon.

I hate night-time tornadoes. There are usually more deaths.

Tornado warnings until 3:00 am and flash flood warnings until 1:00 pm tomorrow . They say we will get about 6 inches of rain.

Hubby went to bed. SMIRKING because I have a tote bag of "supplies" ready to take to the basement.

We have a huge cold low pressure system sitting over the west and heat coming from the gulf up into the central US. This pattern will remain at least through Monday. Truely a worse case scenario the past three days. Some of the storm chasers lost count of how many twisters they saw on Friday. They had to review their video and images to count them. And a couple of those chasers have been chasing storms for years and had never even seen a twister.

If I were you, I wouldn’t go to bed until AFTER 3 a.m., and only then after checking the warnings once more.

Do you have a Weather Radio? Are there sirens in your town?

the Parkersburg tornado was on the ground for as long as 4 hours...was up to a mile wide at times...finally dissipated near Dubuque for short time,

That's an F5+, and most certainly will shatter all US twister records.

Four hours????

Large cells are moving into the Ames/Des Moines area, and the front could take an hour to blow through. It might be a good time for her to stop and have a couple of cups of coffee if she’s thinking of going south of US 20. It looks like just rain after that.

I am on a farm in the middle of nowhere. No siren. However, my son is a fire fighter, and a weather spotter, so I get personalized service.

When my phone rings and I hear someone screaming, "Mom, get the HE!! to the basement", I know it's time to move quickly.

Yikes. Reports now of 78 to 85 mph winds measured with the line of storms moving into Jasper and Marium counties. People being told to seek shelter due to just the storm winds.

I am out chasing tornadoes this Memorial weekend. I was in Lincoln, NE last night and was on my way to Iowa to chase today. But, the Storm Predicition Center put out a Moderate Risk for Kansas, so I turned around to chase down there (better visibility...limited trees). While I am upset at missing the big tornadoes in Iowa and Minnesota, I want to send prayers out to all those affected. As a chaser, hearing of this news is heartbreaking. It would be nice if they stayed in the rural countryside.

I did bag two large tornadoes (1 EF4) in Quinter, KS a couple of days ago. I am a happy chaser. Back to California tomorrow (and will miss an active day in Central Kansas):(
