A question for scholars of Catholic Church history:
During the Spanish Inquisition didn't the "Inquisitors" wear white (or red) robes and tall, conical head gear with eye-hole cutouts?

That isn’t the dress of any religious. There are many paintings from the period which accurately portray the dress of the time. It’s important to remember that the Spanish Inquisition was independent from the Church and not under the control of the Pope.
