I told the guy at the watering hole last night that this was the 92nd race and he replied “There is no way they can drive 500 miles in 90 seconds!” I told him they had to shorten the time because of high fuel prices and he never said another word. ;-)

Here’s one thing I’d like to see today: If there is a yellow flag at the 20-30 lap mark and everyone comes into the pits, I’d like to see Sarah stay out, take over first place, and lead the field at the green flag restart. Sure she’d fall way back later when she pitted, but she’s not going to win anyway, and the PR her team would recieve from hearing the announcer say “And Sarah Fisher leads the field into turn 4!” would probably do more to get her team PR and maybe more sponsors than just pitting like everyone else and having a mid-pack finish.

I guess I’m old fashioned by I’m not sure the whole Junior Power Rangers thing works for me. The Andretti vs. Rahall vs. Dannika as the new American Idol generation of drives. I think I’m rooting for castronoves. Also, now that Indy is down to one engine brand it’s not as much fun. I liked it when there were a few different manufacturers in it. Still gonna be a great race. I’m hoping some greybeard wins it!

Hey all.

I gotta laugh, I have found 2 mobile shortwave stations covering the race from Indianapolis today. They wont let them in the race with all the Radio gear but they are xmitting from
outside and have a video link at the track.

Thanks for starting this thread. I just got home from church in time for the pregame festivities.

My dad took us to the race nearly every year from 1957 through 1968. Have only been able to go 2 or 3 times since then, but my family always knows that I get control of the TV set on Indy 500 day!

One of the “must do” activities for Mr. RightField and me (now that we’re retired) is attending the race at least once.
