.They'd love King, a 64-year-old...The combined age of our ticket is older than an Honus Wager rookie card?
To: kellynla
I suppose King is better than the last name NRO tossed out last week:.....’a democrat’!!

He can’t carry New York, so what’s the point?

I had said a while back I’ll bet Pete King would be mentioned as a VP candidate in ‘08, but I don’t think it will happen. He is generally conservative but has strayed. Someone on FR also told me he had been sympathetic in some way to the terrorist IRA group? This could come back to haunt the ticket. Still King could have some pluses on his side.

I like King, he’s smart, quick witted, tough and a deficit hawk. I’d support him enthusiasticly, though if I were McCain I would announce my intentions to run for only one term before tapping someone 64 years old to be my running mate.

King is not afraid to be a little un PC at times too. He has a certain NY style “earthiness” about him, and is very strong in wanting to beat the radicals who would destroy America. I think he could appeal to a lot of voters, though unfortunately he would not swing NY.

I like Rep. King. He is strong on the WOT and that is a big plus in my book. Don’t know about the other stuff.
McCain should pick an ‘unknown’ imho. Someone conservative, young, an ex military man or woman would be a big plus!
The media would be so busy trying to figure out this ‘unknown’ that Obama/Hillary would be off the news 24/7 which can only help McCain.

I think Peter King rejects amnesty for illegals. If so, McCain would not pick him.

"Only five Democrats voted to impeach: Gene Taylor of Mississippi, Charles W. Stenholm and Ralph M. Hall of Texas, Virgil H. Goode Jr. of Virginia and Paul McHale of Pennsylvania. The Democratic defectors were offset by five Republicans who voted against impeachment: Constance A. Morella of Montgomery County, Christopher Shays of Connecticut, Amo Houghton and
Peter T. King of New York, and Mark E. Souder of Indiana."
That would be the final straw for me on McCain.

If anti-illegal alien, pro-life, Catholic is what you want, how about Jindal? And he gets affirmative action credit.

This is an interesting idea, one that I never thought of. I'm not thrilled with Peter King, but he does bring some assets to the table. Personally, I'm ambivalent about this idea. I don't know what others will think.

He’s better than some of the other possible choices being mentioned. . .

Your thoughts? Huh?
I know this is a pipe dream, but I surely wish he would convince Fred Thompson to run. I heard Thompson on Mark Levin's show a few days ago. Most people don't vote for Vice President anyway, but Thompson still explains issue after issue better than any candidate I have heard in my life. He's a guy who could help when he can get the press focused on him.
