” Unfortunately, my sympathy is always tempered by the knowledge that Cathy Buckle along with her father and her lawyer-husband were big-time activists 30 years ago in Rhodesia, and they all cheered when the evil white imperialists were thrown out and Robert Mugabe took power.”

So Cathy, is that true? Not that I doubt Mr. Howard’s truthfulness, but I’d like to hear it from you.

I didn’t know that about her. I wonder if she would say now that it was a mistake to push for that drastic change in the country. Or is she one of those radicals who is so given to ideology that she would not admit even now that they had made a mistake.

Change is not always a good thing.

She is wondering why, oh why, the world is letting this happen to such a beautiful country. All they wanted was a black ruled utopia, and it couldn’t be possible that such a place required whites to run it. After all, Whitey should not be so prejudiced to think he can govern, farm, build, or manage any better than a well intentioned black person . . .

“After all, Whitey should not be so prejudiced to think he can govern, farm, build, or manage any better than a well intentioned black person . . .”

This is one such “Whitey” who, despite my well intentioned desires to fly my first seaplane when i first bought it, decided that the better part of wisdom (and survival) was to seek out someone with knowledge and experience.

That person was called a “flight instructor”. Do doing is why I am alive - “intentions” do not mean squat to reality, as the Rhodesians are proving.

Does anyone have any real idea as to why there has never been a successful black run government? Melanin alone is NOT the answer, I suspect.

Hear! Hear!

This is the voice of reason and the eye of perception.

What is this country, the U.S. of A., doing with regards to entertaining the thought that a well intentioned black person, devoid of governmental experience, business experience and military experience, aspires to the position where his finger is on the button and his face is the image foreign leaders put on America?

We are getting close to a majority of simpletons who believe in mob rule.

We are getting close to the polyanna principle where logic is nothing more than seductive flattery.

The answer to why Africa is starving should be the loss of Zimbabwe-Rhodesia’s farmlands. The answer to why South Africa is following Zimbabwe should be stupidity.

Whitey is never coming back to feed the starving black children, and the target population of 10 billion people in Africa may never happen.

I did not know that about Cathy Buckle’s family. They sound like liberal fools.

In 1977, a white Rhodesian woman worked as a teacher’s aid in my teacher’s classroom. I remember that they would speak in fairly hushed tones about what was happening there, but I was a kid and did not understand. I guess she saw what was coming, and so fled in the first wave of refugees.

Cathy Buckle and her family were staunch Mugabe activists and supporters. Hard core liberal do gooders of the ilk of a Theressa Heinz Kerry sort.

I didn't know that. Maybe that's why she stays, she might feel the tiniest bit responsible. Where are her father and husband now?

It’s been a couple of years since I read Cathy’s bio, but I believe they are both long dead.

“She clearly loves her country and her fellow citizens.”

That explains a lot to me. I don’t know anything about her except the couple threads I have read.

For some reason I thought she was British or American.

No wonder she stays there. Maybe being Zimbabwean it is hard for her to just up and leave the country.
