WHY HILL WON'T DROP OUT: BOBBY KENNEDY WAS ASSASSINATED IN JUNE

Hillary Clinton is still in the presidential race, she said today, because "historically, it makes no sense" to quit, and added that, "Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June," making an odd comparison between the dead candidate and Barack Obama.
"People have been trying to push me out since Iowa," she said to the Argus Leader's editorial board.

Is she breaking any election rules set by law or Party by staying in the race? If not then people should just back off and let the system work according to the rules rather than according to who can best pressure their opponent out of the race. She represents her supporters. They have a right to see her do all that she can do to win.

Once again people are going round and round being outraged over a statement that EVERYONE knows she didn't mean the way they are taking it.
I am inclined to agree with you. As many have already pointed out, however, her personality and frequent bouts of faulty memory certainly qualify her for all of the suspicion directed at her. IMHO, the real story here is the eagerness of a major faction of Rats to dump all over her. Her crackup is, for me, bitter sweet as I had hoped to see her run against the Pub in Nov.. Sooner or later, her arrogant, grasping nature was bound to bring her down.

"Please don't hold your breath. They'll first try to ignore it. Then if they can't get away with that, they'll say she didn't mean any harm, but merely misspoke because she was exhausted from all her campaigning."
Fortunately, that's not what's happening. Sitting here working and every radio news break opens with this story. (ABC, FOX, CBS . . .)
Like I said, they're throwing her under the hearse!

I do apologize - I came across harsher than I wanted to - it’s just that four times Hillary has referred to RFK’s assassination in the past three-four month, and so she knew exactly what she was saying (similar to how she repeated her Bosnia lie four or five different times).

Hillary is what she is. So take her down for what she really did. This is ridiculous. This speech patrol stuff scares me about more than anything. I mean, come on. We know what she meant. Why doesn't that matter most? There is way too much condemning of phrases rather than picking of brains and trying to understand a person's real point. Everyone hollers over what it sounds like in their own ulteriorly motivated imaginations rather than over what their brains and logic reveal the person really meant. It's insane and it cripples representative government.
As for the dates being at issue because this primary started earlier -- doesn't matter in my book. Obama has not won the thing yet. Hillary is playing by the rules (this time). I say let her be and get on with debating the issues, principles, and abilities of the candidates. This stuff is a waste of precious time. No wonder primaries have to take so long.
Oh, and another thing about the length of primaries. Drudge the ruler of all conversations (seemingly) makes the point that the 1968 primary was decided after 13 states had voted. To me that should change. Is this not a republic of 50 states?

One more thing I would argue. Primaries keep being moved up by various states because of what? Isn’t it precisely because the first few states have all the power. So states feeling left out keep trying to find a better position so they have more say and power. Either make these things last longer so that later states play a part or make the entire primary the same day for the entire country. That’s a fix. Ignoring precisely why the primary season has gone wild just because people see an opportunity to take down their opponent won’t solve anything in the long run. Next time it will be their ox being gored. In this case, Hillary is the one representing the true interests of a republic. (I’m not claiming that her motive unselfish, just that her act is in the best interest of we-the-people in this instance.)

There is no doubt in my mind that McCain benefited from primary mischief in the early going. I agree with your points.

FYI, Monica Crowley (conservative radio talk show host) discussed Her Royal Thighness' statement at length on her show. She did not believe that it was merely a gaffe, because, according to her, Hitlery has become pre-programmed. Also mentioned was HRC referencing the RFK assassination to a Time magazine reporter back in March.
To: guitar4jesus; All
I’ve heard that Hitlery discussed her remark with - of all people - Al Sharpton. Sharpton then gave a speech proclaiming that no one wants to see any presidential candidate assassinated. A sound bite from Sharpton’s speech was played on ABC radio news.

"I do apologize - I came across harsher than I wanted to"I appreciate that, but no apology needed. I am just a bit of an egghead that tries to analyze things without jumping on what I want to hear -- mainly because I hate the witch's guts!

Although I agree pretty much with Olbermann on this one with respect to content, Olbermann's style is so obnoxious that I couldn't watch the whole clip. Your word rant is a perfect description of it.

I think the Clintons just got scratched off the Obamas’ Christmas card list.

Obama is the first black candidate for the Presidency from a major political party.
