Arizona Sen. John McCain faced withering criticism from conservatives in Republican presidential primaries for backing a guest worker program and a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants. But Thursday, McCain, the presumptive GOP nominee, joined Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in calling for an immigration plan including visas to bring employees to California's Silicon Valley and the state's agricultural fields. McCain's broad immigration pitch coming at a global competitiveness roundtable of California technology executives stood out from a far more cautious tone he had adopted earlier in the primary season.

We need to change the system?”
Yeaaaaaaaaaaa...enforcing the immigration laws, deporting ALL illegals and securing BOTH borders WOULD BE A PLEASANT CHANGE!!!
Does he realize that the illegal immigrant has somewhere between zero education and eitht years of education?
Is that the best and brightest minds he’s refering to?
If so, how dumb must this ass think Citzens of the United States are?
How is his position on this any different than GWB? Did you vote for him? Is he a fool and a traitor?
Why the hell doesn’t he STFU about this stuff? He’s already asking us to eat a giant shit sandwich by voting for him. It doesn’t become any more palatable with a topping of thumbtacks.
Programming the high-tech computers that Americans won't program.
Neither one, I might add, got where they are by way of a proper Republican primary. Both of them owe their positions to cross-over Democrats.
Neither has a grasp on what type of damage an amnesty plan will result in. Both are isolated from the consequences of their actions.
For any or you who voted for McCain in the primaries, may the fleas of a thousand camels ...
GWB seemed to be concerned about gaining the Hispanic vote, but did not really make it clear that he made no distinction between legal hispanic Americans and illegal immigrants until after 2006.
McCain, on the other hand, is making it perfectly clear beforehand.
Bush backed off, after trying rather faintly a second time and understanding how unpopular it was making him with his base. I don’t think McCain will back off. He LIKES being a maverick and kicking the conservative base.
Yes, Bush was disappointing on this, especially after 2006. But McCain would be much worse.

now now,, don’t go questioning the motives of all the dems that crossed over to vote for McCain in GoP primaries.
There’s always been a path. It’s called “get in line”. Millions from around the world have used it and continue to use it.
The GoP convention should be a real hoot.
When TWirPs rule, we all pay thru the nose for their coming together.
It is not too late for the GoP to regain some sanity..
GWB is one of the reasons we're in this mess right now. I wouldn't go so far as to call him a traitor - but I could pretty easily believe he is a fool. I've had it with all of them!
The US Dept. of Labor already has no less than 5 guest worker programs. You can see them here...

My guess is that McCain is totally ignorant of all of them.
The problem is NOT ‘lack of a guest worker program’.
you do not even need to really work to receive all these benefits.
Provided by those who are already here and working. We love to give you our money.

Just ask the UK how it’s working out embracng those who would overwhelm them by numbers and over time, and on their dime.
Where’s Bobbie J?
I’m sure he’d try to find some way to put a positive spin on this crap....
“McCain’s broad immigration pitch coming at a global competitiveness roundtable of California technology executives stood out from a far more cautious tone he had adopted earlier in the primary season.”
Some reporter. McCain lied shamelessly during the primaries to mislead voters and he succeeded. His “got the message” nonsense was just one big, calculated lie. No more cautious tone, just bald faced lying from a lying little weasel.
Now he thinks he no longer needs those he deliberately lied to during the primaries, so he’s sucking up the open borders pushers for the general election since his and Obama’s positions on immigration are the same.
Everything for my privileged friends and me
Nothing for thee
except our contempt and contumely.
It is our perquisite
You matter little more than . . . .
J. McCain and friends.
“Wrong. He has learned there are many conservatives who are so consumed by fear that they will dutifully vote for him because they delude themselves by saying he is better than his RAT friends. HE can spit and defecate on them and they will come back for more. “
Lol, ain’t that the truth.
