Alaska governor recommends TransCanada pipeline {Natural Gas}
AP via Houston Chronicle ^ | May 22, 2008 | Associated Press

JUNEAU, Alaska — Alaska's governor is recommending state lawmakers approve a proposal from TransCanada Corp. to build a natural gas pipeline from Alaska's North Slope to a hub in Alberta, Canada.

Gov. Sarah Palin, along with the state's natural resources and revenue commissioners, said Thursday the Calgary-based company's plan merits issuance of a license under Palin's Alaska Gasline Inducement Act, as well as a $500 million cash inducement from the state.

They said the multibillion dollar project stood far above a proposal from oil giants BP PLC and ConocoPhillips because it was binding and enforceable.

Lawmakers have 60 days to review the license proposal. A special session begins June 3 in Juneau.

Perhaps the best governor in the US right now. Certainly amongst the top 3 or 4.

Alaska Pipeline Project
http://www.transcanada.com/company/alaska_pipeline_project.html

The Alaska Pipeline Project proposes to move natural gas from Prudhoe Bay in northern Alaska to North American markets. The pipeline would stretch more than 2,700 km from Prudhoe Bay in Alaska to Alberta. It would follow the route of the existing trans-Alaska oil pipeline and the Alaska Highway, and continue through northern British Columbia to link with the pipeline grid in north western Alberta.

Palin should not be McCain’s VP. She should be the first woman President. I pray someday she is.

"Perhaps the best governor in the US right now. Certainly amongst the top 3 or 4."

You've got to be kidding, right? She is closer to a female Hugo Chavez than you think. Here's a snip of news from last year where she wanted to forcefully rewrite an existing agreement with the oil industry in order to steal more of their profits for Alaskan citizens...

"Conservative legislators in Alaska struck back over the weekend at Gov. Sarah Palin's plan to raise taxes on the oil and gas industry. A state House and Senate committee separately approved new versions of the governor's bill that stripped out her proposed increase of the existing net profits tax from 22.5% to 25%."

She should be thrown out of office, not idolized. Especially by anyone who claims to be a free market conservative.

Well, that is a bit of a surprise. She has struck me as a strong ally of the oil industry, wanting to open up ANWR, wanting a new natural gas and oil pipeline, suing to get the feds to back off their ridiculous polar bear nonsense, etc.

I don't know much about the Governor of Alaska, but the more I hear of her the better I like her. She seems to believe in industry and technolgy for Alaska and the country. Good! And damn the polar bears. (They're vicious beasts anyway.)

This was about the time that it was discovered that there were a couple of swine that had bought and paid (cheaply) for a handful of Alaska legislators. Governor Palin ran for office without the help, and against the wishes of the local Rino establishment. Her platform was to run the crooks out, and she is succeeding. Too bad you are on the other side. As we in Alaska are fond of saying, "Sarah is the real deal"

Not even close brother. She is 100% solid conservative. Outwardly and strongly opposes gay marriage and abortion. total open and transparent government. I didn’t like that proposal too much either, and that is the worst thing she has done. She is hard core conservative.
