Sarasota, FL (LifeNews.com) -- The Christian non-profit housing ministry Habitat for Humanity stands accused of helping a Florida-based Planned Parenthood overcome a hurdle to building a new abortion business. A pro-life advocate says Planned Parenthood would have been stymied in building the new center without the group's help.
Planned Parenthood has been looking to build a new abortion facility in the Rosemary District north of downtown Sarasota.
However, according to local zoning rules, the abortion business can't build the new center unless a multi-family housing unit is built on the back of the lot.
According to Jim Sedlak of STOPP International, a Planned Parenthood watchdog group, the pro-abortion group approached the local planning board and asked for a five-year extension since it is not a builder and couldn't find a buyer for the lot.
The board denied the request and insisted Planned Parenthood obtain a building permit for the residential building.
Planned Parenthood came up with a creative solution and sold the lot to Habitat for Humanity for $10.
"So, Habitat for Humanity, an organization that claims to be a Christian ministry, is now working with Planned Parenthood," Sedlak told LifeNews.com.
"Habitat for Humanity said that this was only a real estate transaction, but Planned Parenthood could not have opened the abortion facility if the lot was not used for a residential building," he explained. "So, yes, for Humanity is helping Planned Parenthood open its doors."
LifeNews.com contacted officials with Habitat for Humanity and has not received a response for a request for comment.
Sedlak said the Sarasota City Commission met on May 5 and approved the plan to sell the land to Habitat.
He noted that a letter Planned Parenthood filed with the city said, "We are excited to have Habitat be a part of the Planned Parenthood team."
Sedlak is calling on pro-life advocates to contact Habitat for Humanity and urge the organization to break the agreement it made with Planned Parenthood.
"Please contact both the Sarasota and the international office and let them know that Habitat should have nothing to do with Planned Parenthood," he said.
ACTION: Contact Habitat for Humanity at 1757 N. East Ave., Sarasota, FL 34234 or call 941-365-0700. Also contact Habitat for Humanity International at 1-800-HABITAT or 1-800-461-9330.

Used to contribute to Habitat but the Carter connection turned me off to it. This reinforces my judgment.
Sadly, just another opportunistic ‘Charity’ that has lost sight of it's principles in the pursuit of donations and growth.

I hope Habitat isn’t pro-abortion in my area. Sorry to say I contributed to them, but NEVER again.

Habitat for Humanity helps PP open an abortuary

We have received news from our Associate group in Sarasota, Florida that Planned Parenthood plans to build a new killing center in the Rosemary District, north of downtown Sarasota. But according to zoning rules, PP cannot do this unless a liner building, intended as multifamily, on Cohen Way, is built at the back of the lot. PP approached the Planning Board and asked for a five-year extension, since it is not a builder and couldnt find a buyer for this lot. In order for PP to get a certificate of occupancy, it must get a building permit for the residential building. However, the board refused PPs request.

Unfortunately, PP found a creative solution to its problem, with the help of Habitat for Humanity. PP sold land to Habitat for $10. S0, Habitat for Humanity, an organization that claims to be a Christian ministry, is now working with PP. Habitat for Humanity said that this was only a real estate transaction, but PP could not have opened the abortion facility if the lot was not used for a residential building, so, yes, Habitat for Humanity is helping PP open its doors.  According to Habitat for Humanitys web site,

Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat is founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, decent, affordable place to live in dignity and safety.
Apparently, Habitat believes that living next to PP, an organization that murders innocent preborn babies, pushes pornography onto children and covers up for rapists is a place where people can live in dignity and safety.  At a meeting of the Sarasota City Commission on May 5, the commission approved a plan to get the PP abortuary opened, based on the agreement with Habitat. A letter that PP filed with the city before the meeting said, "We are excited to have Habitat be a part of the Planned Parenthood team."

We encourage all STOPPers to contact Habitat for Humanity and demand they break this agreement: Habitat for Humanity, 1757 N. East Ave., Sarasota, FL  34234, 941-365-0700, tsouza@sarasotahabitat.com.   We also encourage you to contact Habitat for Humanity International to register your complaint. You can reach them at 1-800-HABITAT. They also have a complaint line: 1-800-461-9330.
Please contact both the Sarasota and the international office and let them know that Habitat should have nothing to do with Planned Parenthood.

Is this irony or just too weird? “A multi-housing unit required on the back lot.” So the abortionists have a ready-made clientele, and the low-income renters are just a convenient walk away should they get the impulse to kill their babies.

let's face it, habitat is primarily a democrat organization; otherwise, jimmy carter would have nothing to do with it. the program makes a lot of middle-class democrats feel good about themselves. Did you ever notice that habitat does not build homes in the suburbs. Do you really think these democrats want low-income people living near them and going to school with their children?
