Kennedy wants his Senate seat given to his wife(dynasty ping!)
hot air ^

Ted Kennedy has made clear to confidants that when his time is up, he wants his Senate seat to stay in the family - with his wife, Vicki. Multiple sources in Massachusetts with close ties to the liberal lion say his wife of 16 years has long been his choice to continue carrying the family flame in the Senate. Kennedy won the seat in 1962; his brother John held it from 1953 to 1960. “There’s no question that he’d like Vicki to continue in his seat,” said one Massachusetts Democrat with ties to the Camelot clan who spoke to Kennedy recently, before his health crisis. “She’s smart, and smart politically.”

Hasn’t this come up a few times before, like with Mary Bono Mack?

Nobody leaves here alive.

Not even Ted.

What do we know about Vicky Kennedy other than the fact that Ted married her in 1992 after dumping his first wife?

Since she is only a Kennedy by marriage, wouldn't the Kennedys by blood (Joe for Oil, Patrick, etc.) feel that they were being cheated out of their rightful entitlement?

Every man in the Kennedy family should know the women are just for show, especially a woman married into the family.

Massachusetts Democrats are going to want to give his seat to someone who might stand a chance of re-election.

Deval Patrick is capable of anything, but I doubt whether his handlers would let him do this, even if he agreed. Too much risk of letting a RINO get in when the term is up.

1952 to 2008 counts JFK, Kennedy sycophant seat-warmer Benjamin Smith, and EMK.

The Kennedys’ arrogance knows no bounds.

And the Massholes of Taxachusetts go on saluting it.

1952 to 2008 is long enough. For the record, he first came to the Senate in 1962.

He was referring to a Kennedy holding that particular Senate seat since 1952, which is true.  JFK had it until he became President and he asked the governor that it not be filled until Teddy became old enough to hold the seat.

Here’s a little family history of the Reggie family although Vickie isn’t the topic...... Her father was a power broker in LA.

This is not uncommon, regardless of the party affiliation.

Joan Kennedy, Ted's true wife, mother of his three children, is going to be a Senator?

Sarcasm aside, I vehemently disagree with Ted's politics and public behavior, I do feel a bit sorry for a man who has shouldered so much sorrow, like the untimely deaths of 4 siblings, including 2 who were assassinated. God only knows how any of us might react. Prayers for repentence and either a quick recovery or the grace of a happy death, and a quicker retirement in any event.

Does the MA legislature have enough time to change the law back to Governor appointment before he passes and the special election is held?

Then what are the consequences of that? Can Republicans file suit to block such a law on the grounds that this action makes obvious the ploy to deny only a Republican governor the Senate appointment power in MA?

Do the Massachusetts voters simply nod their heads when told by their political betters what to acquiesce in?

When it comes to the Kennedys, yes. I went to college in Taxachussets and they were truly worshipped, spoken of in hushed, reverent tones.

Dam it sounds like the “Senate Seat” was some kind of seat at a restaurant or concert where you can place it on hold. “Can you please hold this seat for..”.

As always the Kennedy Family have always feel they are above the law and yet the morons who just hand their vote for this murderer.

Massachusetts tend to enjoy coronations than elections.

I was a liberal and even respected the Kennedies...until I lived in MA.
