Last-minute update from Tom McClintock (CA-CD4)

Dear E-Team:

As much as I would like to think this campaign for the Republican nomination in the 4th Congressional district is over, it is not.

Although we still hold a sizeable lead, my opponent has unleashed the ugliest smear campaign I have seen in over 30 years in politics attacking both my integrity and my patriotism.  He has backed it with over $2.5 million of his personal fortune and actually bragged that he planned to “bury McClintock in money.”

But he hadn’t taken two things into account: the decency of the public and the devotion of supporters like you, who have made it possible for me to set everything straight.  We can’t match his money, but we don’t have to in order to get our basic message out.

To date, nearly 10,000 donors like you have contributed over $1.1 million in this battle over the heart and soul of our Republican party – an average contribution of just $110.  And that support has made it possible to maintain our lead going into the final lap of the campaign.

But we’re stretched to the breaking point to keep our ads on the air.  In fact, I’ve had to ask my campaign staff to hold off paying some of our bills for the primary election in order to keep at least a minimal presence on the air.

So, after we end this primary in a few days, I will still have bills to pay before we can move on to the general election.  Meanwhile, the Democrat is expected to have $1 million in the bank on election day.

That’s why I am asking for your urgent, last-minute help to make sure we can pay off our bills after June 3rd and at least begin the general election without carrying a debt.

As I have said all along, this district has become a referendum on the liberal congressmen who squandered Ronald Reagan’s legacy.  We’re within sight of winning that battle – I believe the Republicans of this district are poised to demand our party return to its traditional principles in no uncertain terms.  But then we have to take our Republican message to the general public, against a rested and well-funded Democrat.

With your help, I have every confidence that we can close this primary campaign with a resounding conservative victory and be ready to run a very strong general election this fall.

Please make an urgent online contribution of whatever you can to help as soon as possible.
I am counting on you.  Federal law limits campaign contributions to $6,900.  Contributions may also be mailed to:

McClintock for Congress

Thank you for your faith and support through this crucial election.

Sincerely,

Tom McClintock

I turn the channel every time one of those filthy ads comes on. I haven’t seen any of Tom’s ads yet, but I hope he gets a soldier’s mother to get onscreen saying what a positive scum she thinks Ose is. As do the rest of us.
