Ted Kennedy: I'd like wife to take seat
NY Daily News ^ | May 22, 2008 | IAN BISHOP

Ted Kennedy has made clear to confidants that when his time is up, he wants his Senate seat to stay in the family - with his wife, Vicki.

Multiple sources in Massachusetts with close ties to the liberal lion say his wife of 16 years has long been his choice to continue carrying the family flame in the Senate. Kennedy won the seat in 1962; his brother John held it from 1953 to 1960.

"There's no question that he'd like Vicki to continue in his seat," said one Massachusetts Democrat with ties to the Camelot clan who spoke to Kennedy recently, before his health crisis.

"She's smart, and smart politically."

The 54-year-old Victoria Reggie Kennedy, a former hotshot Washington lawyer, is a Louisiana native and the daughter of a politically active judge.

She was hailed for holding the family together when John F. Kennedy Jr. was killed in a plane crash in 1999.

By favoring his wife, Kennedy, 76, is bypassing his late brother Robert Kennedy's eldest son, Joe, a former congressman.

What happened to the push for term limits? I think based on the recent actions of our current elected officials it is high time we dust off that Constitutional Amendment and see about getting it ratified. My suggestion would be a two term limit for US Senators and 3 terms for the house!

Maybe then we could get our off shore oil deposits opened up for drilling.

We don’t have a monarchy in the USA. OF course, maybe the commonwealth of Massachusetts does have a monarchy, just not officially written into their constitution. The Kennedy’s think they are royalty, and the people of Massachusetts are to blame.

Term limits? Hell, we won’t vote them out. I don’t expect them to vote themselves out.

Vicki? The slut he threw his first wife overboard for?

Unbelievable.

Nepotism at it’s finest, Kennedy by injection.

They can't allow that. Half the people in MA would be in line to be Senator.

What is this, the House of Lords?

In the Commonwealth, that seat passes like the Royal throne to the Kennedy family.

Would that be sea lion? I doubt it. The POS is no lion, sea lion or otherwise. Just a killer whale.

Yes, Joan Kennedy is still alive and drinking. Her alcohol problem is so severe that her children have guardianship over her. She's angry about it, and fighting them in court over real estate issues. Here's her entry in Wiki: Joan Kennedy

“They don’t call it the “Commonwealth of Masochistics” for nuthin’.”

I guess I really shouldn’t criticize how other states vote.
I do live in Maryland after all (sarbanes, mikulski, o’malley, pelosi’s dad...)

Imagine all of the secrets she has to hold. All of the alcohol in the world won't help that.

My admittedly shallow reservoir of goodwill for this fat turd is rapidly drying up. He actually thinks the Kennedy name is royalty.

Damn, 46 years in the Senate. That about sums up the problem with our political system.

In a seat he inherited from his brother that he is now bequeathing to his wife. must be nice to be royalty.

This is SO old party school. The widow takes the seat of the late husband.

Why mention this now? Because the illness makes EVERY Kennedy appearance PR Gold.

It also puts up a baricade to anyone trying to manuver to succeed not only from outside the family BUT INSIDE THE FAMILY!

(john kennedy the lawyer must be ticked)
