Carly Fiorina: McCain Is 'Perfect Enough'
Newsmax ^ | May 21, 2008 | Ronald Kessler

As chairman and CEO of Hewlett-Packard Company, Carly Fiorina coined the term “perfect enough” to goad the hidebound, overly cautious company to embrace change and innovation more quickly.

Now, as the Republican National Committee’s "Victory Chair," Fiorina is pushing John McCain for president. She says conservatives who are skeptical about him need to look at the broader picture.

“When people strive for perfection, they frequently don’t make much progress,” Fiorina tells Newsmax. “So what I said in my book ‘Tough Choices’ is, if you’re focused on making progress, if you’re focused on making the right choices, then perfect enough is usually better than perfect. And in this case, no candidate for president is perfect. John McCain is perfect enough.”

---snip----

Certainly Fiorina’s own vision has been vindicated. One of the changes she advocated as CEO was the acquisition of Compaq Computer Corp. to transform HP into a company that was competitive in both computers and printers.

To obtain approval, she battled a change-resistant board and faced a skeptical press, which was fixated as usual on short-term results.

In early 2005, Fortune magazine ran a critical article, “Why Carly’s Big Bet Is Failing.” Two weeks later, the board fired Fiorina, who had been described as one of the most powerful women in corporate America.

Largely because of the acquisition she brokered, HP today is a stunning success story, having overtaken Dell as the world’s largest computer maker and seen its stock zoom. Fiorina is just as confident that McCain is the right choice for the country and for conservatives as she was about the changes she implemented at HP.

“Conservatives who are skeptical need to go back to the facts and the record,” Fiorina says.

“Conservatives who are skeptical need to go back to the facts and the record,” Fiorina says.

Well, Carly babe, I know McCain’s record and facts like the back of my hand. Hence, he won’t be getting my vote.

Carly, please, we went back and looked at your record. We have gone back and looked at the facts about McCain.

You cannot make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

If people do not want Obama, then do not put people in a position where the outcome is one and the same. Unfortunately, the truth is, we need an option that we can believe in. That option is not McCain.

Does the author even know who Carly is? She nearly destroyed HP.

As HP’s performance slowed, the Board of Directors became increasingly concerned.
In early January 2005, the HP Board of Directors presented Fiorina with a four-page list of issues the board had with Fiorina’s performance.
A week after the meeting, the plan was leaked to the Wall Street Journal.
The board proposed a plan to shift her authority to HP division heads, which Fiorina resisted.

On 9 February 2005, Carly Fiorina was dismissed as chairman and chief executive officer of HP...

Now, if you had cited a family with a history of stunning managerial histories, such as George Romney at AMC, et al, (Mitt's father), then I might be impressed.

Did I really see while surfing that Fiorina’s being floated as McInsane’s VP? She wrecked HP, what in God’s name would she do to the country?

Well Ms. Fiorina, I think I know enough about McCain (and you too I might add.)

No thank you to both.

Time for the RINO GOP to rot. Maybe a conservative will emerge in 2012.

I don’t know this chick from Adam.

I can’t stand McCain.

UNFORTUNATELY, If I don’t vote for him that anti-American socialist Obama HUSSEIN will be occupying the White House and pulling American Troops out from Iraq. After all the sufferings American fighting men and women have gone through for us over there, I think their sufferings and losses should not go in vain. WHatever McManiac is, he won’t let that happen. Obama HUSSEIN will.

Also, McManiac is far better on the Second Amendment and on judicial appointments than Obama HUSSEIN will be.

Where is it written that for a true conservative to emerge in the next election cycle we must sell the country to a Marxist?

There is no logic in suicide voting.

Well, for starters, when questioned about the massive off-shoring she instituted while head of HP, her response was:

"No American has a right to a job."

I wonder what national policies that would translate into?

It’s not about logic anymore to some people, it is all about emotion. People feel like they have been slighted by McCain or *their* candidate didn’t win. Rush is against against McCain because so how between Rush and McCain it has become personal.

McCain wins and he works with Democrats, things will turn to crap and he gets blamed.

McCain wins and the Democrats overrule McCain and things turn to crap and he gets blamed.

Obama wins and things turn to crap and the Democrats all get blamed.

Things will turn to crap the next four years.

The RINO GOP has screwed this nation and conservatism.

In case you didn’t notice, George Bush has been blamed for every single thing that’s gone wrong and a bunch of things that didn’t since he’s been in office. The media is as hard left as they come; no matter what McCain will be blamed for everything. Republicans will be under constant attack in the media just as they are now.

The reason “the country will go to hell and the Republicans will get blamed” doesn’t work is because the country has been quite successful during Bush’s two terms yet the media has successfully branded the Republican party as every which manner of evil and the country as teetering on the brink of disaster. If one of the socialists is elected, the media will do everything they can to convince everybody the country is just peachy. The Democrat party will never be blamed for anything if they’re not being blamed for the marked decline in things since they took over Congress.

Understand also that voting for McCain does not mean that I or anybody else endorse his politics. It means nothing more than that he is the best candidate of the crap available.

I agree with you on this point. I wish McCain would just shut up. I convince myself that I have to vote for him to keep the demons out, and then he goes and says something stupid.
