NORTH HOLLYWOOD -- Two people were shot dead and five others were wounded by gunfire in three separate shootings Tuesday night that had police searching neighborhoods door to door for gunmen, finding one suspect in a backyard. The two fatal shootings were related and took place within three blocks of each other in North Hollywood at about 7 p.m., LAPD's Deputy Chief Michel Moore told reporters.
About an hour earlier, a man was shot in Northridge by a gunman riding with a number of men in a car near Wilbur Avenue and Parthenia Street, said LAPD Lt. Bill Maarschalk. His injuries were not life threatening.
Also about the same time, four males were dropped off at a hospital in the Northeast Valley with gunshot wounds, Moore said.
Police said only the two North Hollywood shootings were related. Dozens of officers descended on the area, setting up a perimeter around the intersections of Whitsett Avenue and Oxnard Street, where one victim was found, and Coldwater Canyon Avenue and Vanowen Street, where the other was shot.
Shell casings from a variety of weapons were strewn throughout the area.
"We are just ... putting our arms around this event," Moore said about the fatal shootings.

Now Daily News saying it might be a car to car gunbattle.
Yep:
I was walking my dog in august of 2003 on Ranchito near Magnolia and Hazeltine (very close to the area of this shooting) when a car full of latino gang members (read mexican) rolled up on me and pulled a .38 caliber snub nose pistol and pointed it at my chest. I managed to run away without getting shot but two blocks away they shot some other poor soul in the chest. The gang problem in the san fernando valley is completely out of control...
As I suspected, it is not a "Gun Problem," but rather a "Crime, Criminals, and Gangs Problem."
Do you know what happened this week back in 1850, 158 years
ago?
1. California became a state.
2. The state had no electricity.
3. The state had no money.
4. Almost everyone spoke Spanish
5. There were gunfights in the streets.
So basically, it was just like California is today
except that the women had real boobs, and the men
didn’t hold hands.

Maybe the violence is so bad that we should just give up and come home and...no, wait, wrong country. Is this Bush’s fault or not?? *sigh*...I’m so confused.
Post signs at the city limits of each city/town listing all the laws.
Would be criminals and criminals would then read the signs and the violence would stop.

That’s the problem...they can’t read English...or Spanish.
San Fernando Valley ping.
Can't be true. In CA you have to carry your weapons UNLOADED, and locked in the trunk of your car. Ammo in a seperate container.
