Moderators note:This was the first real thread reporting the news today. It was locked for reasons that should be obvious to everyone by now. The Moderator who locked it is the level-headed Mod. I am the arbitrary and capricious Mod. If you choose to martyr yourself I am happy to oblige.
US Senator Edward M. Kennedy, the veteran lawmaker from Massachusetts who is the last surviving brother in the legendary Kennedy family, has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, his doctors said today.
Specialists in Boston and around the country said the information released indicated that Kennedy has terminal cancer and might have only a limited time to live.

May he take whatever time he has left and make the most of it as a private citizen.

Schwarzenegger(married to Teddys niece) was just on Tom Sullivans radio show.He told Tom that the tumor was inoperative. Did you mean to write inoperable, or did Schwarzenegger misspeak? Whichever, I will wish the senior senator from Massachussetts well. This is a terrible thing to happen to anyone.

Hey Biggirl...I’m glad Rush finally organized his schedule so that he took days off while the Braves play afternoon games. Yes!

Although I disagree with Senator Kennedy on almost every substantive issue, and would love to see the people of Massachusetts elect someone else, I wish him and his family well.
Conservatives are not the party of ad hominem attacks and personal vendetta. You will not see a conservative on national television inciting people to stone an elected official and his family to death because of a difference in ideology.
A true conservative welcomes the chance to defeat liberalism in the arena of ideas and at the ballot box. Let the Liberals show how truly bereft of ideas, principles, and direction they are. Let people like Al Franken, Randi Rhodes, Sean Penn and Alec Baldwin spew their vile venom and hatred. Conservatives must rise above the gutter tactics of the left and lead the way to that "shining city on the hill"

I restored comment #1. Looks like it was mowed-down in a hail of bullets.

As I posted earlier on a thread that was locked and/or deleted...
I suspect Senator Kennedy's tumor is particularly aggressive as his Left carotid surgery last October would have included diagnostic tests revealing brain pathology--and both were coincidentally on the same Left side.
Presuming Kennedy had no brain pathology in October, the tumor has advanced to causing seizures in a relatively short time. Grim prognosis for the short term.

Interestingly enough, the log shows the suspension is for another comment on another thread.

The man is ill, dying perhaps, there is no need to rehash the old complaints about his voting history. Cool. But these prayathons? They smack if not of hypocrisy, then of personality cult, condemned by none other than Nikita Khrushchev in a secret a report to the 20th Party Congress on February 25, 1956.
Do we owe the rich and famous and the celebrities known for being known prayers? Serious question, please answer if you can. Do they pray for me? For you? Why not?

Heck, I dont have to conjecture - just dig up their comments from when Reagan died.Precisely why this is the opportunity to lead by example.

Isnt there another Senator from the East who beat brain cancer? I cant remember his name, but he was on with Rush for a small segment awhile backOh, Arlen Spector?
Senator Specter had intestinal cancer, which was successfully removed. His prognosis--let's say, three-to five-year survival--was near zero, as Kennedy's probably is. The problem with brain tumors is that there is no one kind; size, location, and rate of growth, including the patient's age and relative health factor into it.
Malignant and probably invasive--not a good sign. I wonder if Kennedy's team has already ruled out surgery or if that's been taken into consideration.

EEZ NOT A TEEUMOR!
Ah...jeez...sorry, couldn't resist that one. I already said my piece in another thread, which was locked, about how we shouldn't make light of or take joy in Kennedy's condition. This bit of levity is unrelated, at least in my mind.

A brain tumor took my Mom, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. If his is untreatable, and it looks as if it may be, I hope they’re able to manage the pain.

My dad died of a brain tumor. After a seizure revealed its presence, he held on for four months. This does not bode well for the Senator. My prayers for him and his family.

Prayers for the Senator and his family. I would like to suggest to the Moderators that they consider a PERMANENT ban on any low class posts for this thread and any other related to anyone in public life in the future.
