Climate plan could change sky colour [Darwin Alert!]

SCIENTIST Tim Flannery has proposed a radical solution to climate change which may change the colour of the sky.

But he says it may be necessary, as the "last barrier to climate collapse."

Professor Flannery says climate change is happening so quickly that mankind may need to pump sulphur into the atmosphere to survive.

Australia's best-known expert on global warming has updated his climate forecast for the world - and it's much worse than he thought just three years ago.

He has called for a radical suite of emergency measures to be put in place.

The gas sulphur could be inserted into the earth's stratosphere to keep out the sun's rays and slow global warming, a process called global dimming.

"It would change the colour of the sky," Prof Flannery told AAP.

"It's the last resort that we have, it's the last barrier to a climate collapse.

So the color of the sky might change...I think green would be great, maybe pink.

If we're going to spend the money think big.

I love it when he says that "coal is the enemy"--- when the creep really means humans are the enemy. Perthetic...

This guy is so dim that he should volunteer to have himself ground up into tiny particles and injected into the upper atmosphere if he wants to do us a favor. That might help more than "the gas sulphur" which is not a gas last time I got to play with it in inorganic chem lab.

No way this moron is a climate scientist with any kind of training that would credibly justify that title. Probably saw Prof Gore's presentation and that was all the education he needed.

Aha! Paleontologist and popular author! Perfect qualifications for a climate scientist. Every top climate expert I know has paleontology training at the essential core of their expertise. It is the only background that equips a person for a neutral, unbiased, cold-blooded, unselfish, let-the-chips-fall-where-they-may, scientific-method-at-all-costs, no-agenda assessment of climate trends, their historical record, and probable causes.

I feel better now. I will gladly leave the future of the Earth and my family in the capable hands of a paleontologist and popular author. But not just any paleontologist and popular author. I would like to be in the capable hands of a paleontologist and popular author with an intellectual-looking beard, looking at a distant vision of a world incomprehensible to ordinary folk like me, and with a bemused smile contemplating those brilliant solutions that escape ordinary folk like me. It is not for us to know or speculate whether gases like sulfur put in the upper atmosphere will save our souls. Let us, please, be satisfied and confident in letting noted paleontologists and popular authors make those crucial scientific decisions for us. Sulfur away! We are saved, saved!!

I think it's dim enough.

Flannery sounds like an Aussie Paul Ehrlich, the author of “The Population Bomb”. All of Ehrlich’s dire predictions failed miserably. He is still a hero to the enviro-wackos.

Are there health risks associated with pumping sulphur into the atmosphere?

Since this guy is obviously one of those anti-capitalist leftists that think the West has it too good compared to third world countries,

I’m guessing he wants to use the hydrogen sulfide option,

so that the whole world will smell like China.

Most of these ideas are goofy at best and eventually discredited. The question I have is a man like this was able to convince one country to implement this idea or even convince just one man with a bunch of money (Al Gore) to do this on their own there isn’t much the rest of the world could do to stop it is there...?

We can probably burn high-sulfur coal as long as we mandate scrubbers. (What else were they there for?)

We had a frost warning up for last night and it’s supposed to be about as cold tonight.

I wish the MMGW nuts would shut up. I hate having someone/something always prove them wrong.

good point, they must mean sulfur dioxide.

Professor Flannery says climate change is happening so quickly that mankind may need to pump sulphur into the atmosphere to survive.

Then put the sulphur back into diesel fuel (that you recently demanded be removed) and everything will be fine.

A$$hole.
