Killing the offspring of rivals and/or forcibly taking over the young in rival nests, etc. happens in nature — I hope no one is suggesting human norms should be derived from any animal behaviors just so we can be more “natural”......

I believe the master plan for each species is to produce offspring to keep on keeping on. Remember the ark = two by two so that they could reproduce. Anything else in contrary to the plan = an anomaly.
