ROSARITO, Mexico (Reuters) - Four people believed to be Americans were shot in the head and dumped in a notorious drug-smuggling area in northern Mexico near the border with California, Mexican police said on Monday.

Police in the beach town of Rosarito, across the border from San Diego, said they discovered the bodies of three men and a woman on Sunday in an abandoned car in a remote patch of scrubland near the Pacific coast.

I have only mild interest. Mostly anyone from there who is here LEGALLY is welcome in my book.

We’ve gotten a lot of fine hard working citizens and citizens-to-be for there.

That, unfortunately is a minority of the ‘minority’.

Mexicans regard themselves as Americans. They DO live in the Americas, after all. Many find it mildly irritating when a Norté Americano calls himself an American. It feels a little like we think the Americas end just north of Tijuana, as if we think they don't even exist.

There are a lot of people in the world who whine and cry about stupid pointless things. Why should we pay attention to them?

Maybe the next time you run into one of these snivelers, you can inform them that we call ourselves "American" because the word "America" is actually part of the name of our country. "America", however, is not part of the name of "Mexico". So, if they really can't face reality without crying, tell them if they'd like to call us "United States of Americans", that's OK, too. It sounds retarded, but, hey, its all about feelings.

One of my customers just got back. His company will not let them stay in Hotels overnight in Mexico, they have to drive to the Lucent Plant and back across to the Texas side. He made the mistake of going on vacation first and then visiting the Mexico operation, he was totally stressed out by the end of the week. He drives himself but fears the inevitable imprisonment of the gringo if he is hit by a wild driving Mexican. They cannot trust anyone, to hire a driver or a car because ANYONE can be bought in Mexico. Or our congress for that matter!

In that heap of corpses, was there a senator’s daughter or a congressman’s son?

Nope?

Move along.

I agree, then it will be a national tragedy!

Naaaaaah. It's much more fun to bid them Buenos mañanas, then get really puzzled and innocently ask/say 'You can say Good Morning in English, why can't you say it in Spanish?' 'Buenos Días?, that's Good Day isn't it??? Good day is way different than good morning..'

I have no idea of what “YMMV” means.....

I know most of the slurs and insults used by non-Americans in their attempt to insult Americans...... as I’m sure those South of the Border know the terms applied to them by those of us North of the border.....

But the greatest satisfaction comes from KNOWING, I’m an American and they aren’t — at least until McCain becomes President....

Sorry. YMMV=Your Mileage May Vary.

In other words, you are entitled to your opinion, it may be different than mine, but I respect it anyway.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, yeah...

US Warns Tourists of ‘Small-Unit Combat’ at Mexico Border
By Penny Starr
CNSNews.com Senior Staff Writer
May 16, 2008
(CNSNews.com) - The U.S. State Department has issued an alert, warning travelers that the “equivalent
to military small-unit combat” is taking place across the southern U.S. border in Mexico and that
Americans are being kidnapped and murdered there.
“Recent Mexican army and police force conflicts with heavily-armed narcotics cartels have escalated to
levels equivalent to military small-unit combat and have included use of machine guns and
fragmentation grenades,” said the State Department alert.
“Confrontations have taken place in numerous towns and cities in northern Mexico, including Tijuana in
the Mexican state of Baja California, and Chihuahua City and Ciudad Juarez in the state of Chihuahua,”
reads the alert. “The situation in northern Mexico remains very fluid; the location and timing of future
armed engagements there cannot be predicted.”
The State Department particularly urged that Americans be wary when traveling in that part of Mexico
closest to the United States. “U.S. citizens are urged to be especially alert to safety and security concerns
when visiting the border region,” said the alert.
Murder and kidnapping of Americans has become routine in Tijuana, which sits just across the border
from San Diego, California, according to the State Department, and sometimes heavily armed attackers
wear the uniforms of the Mexican police or military.
“Dozens of U.S. citizens were kidnapped and/or murdered in Tijuana in 2007,” says the alert. “Public
shootouts have occurred during daylight hours near shopping areas. Criminals are armed with a wide
array of sophisticated weapons. In some cases, assailants have worn full or partial police or military
uniforms and have used vehicles that resemble police vehicles.”
The alert also warns Americans to avoid areas where drugs and prostitution are evident and to “refrain
from displaying expensive-looking jewelry, large amounts of money and other valuable items.”
In light of this alert, which was first issued on Apr. 14, and was listed as “current as of today, Thursday
May 15 17:51:35 2008” on State’s Web site on Wednesday, Cybercast News Service submitted a
number of questions to the State Department via e-mail, and received non-responsive answers the next
day. Cybercast News Service’s questions were as follows:
— “The alert says ‘attacks are aimed primarily at members of drug trafficking organizations, Mexican
police forces, criminal justice officials and journalists.’ Can you provide more details about who has
been attacked and the result of those attacks, including injuries, fatalities and legal ramifications?

— “The alert says violence has ‘escalated to levels equivalent to military small-unit combat and have
included use of machine guns and fragmentation grenades.’ Can you provide more information,
including the number of incidents involving these kinds of weapons and the number of weapons
confiscated?
— “The alert says that violence not related to drug trafficking has increased in Tijuana and Ciudad Jarez,
with ‘dozens of U.S. citizens ... kidnapped and/or murdered in Tijuana in 2007.’ How many people were
kidnapped or murdered and how do those numbers compare with the numbers in prior years?”
