Talk about perversion of the language. The “fairness” concept in the fairness doctrine will have the effect of shutting down people such as Rush. I want Rush and Hannity and the rest of them on the air.

Bill Clinton had complained in the past that Rush Limbaugh had three hours a day to attack him. This is when Bill was president that he said that. And Bill wasn’t thinking about the power of a president to make news and shape events on his own? He was that worried about what Rush Limbaugh was saying about him? And this was a Dem. president who in spite of Rush got elected and re-elected.

"Fairness Doctrine" = Arrogance Doctrine

The First Amendment exists in the form it does because it is not possible for the government to define "fairness" - or else the Constitution would demand "fairness."

The premise of the "fairness" doctrine is exactly the same axiom which is planted in McCain-Feingold - namely, that journalism is objective. Yet journalism is a product for sale - and to take journalists' word for the quality of their own product is naivete. Discard the assumption of objectivity which the Constitution does not make or allow, and the "fairness" doctrine is a naked emperor.
