This is an important statement which must be considered and understood by all Jews who think that historically the Muslims have been our friends or at least tolerated us; and that the Christians have been our enemies and persecuted us.
Have there been Christians that acted in an un-Christian manner toward the Jews? Of course. But it's important to remember that such actions were and are un-Christian. The actions of the Moslems are and have been Koranic.
I know the following is anecdotal, but we really don't know that much about individual medieval lives. The two greatest Jewish Bible Scholars of that age were RAMBAM (Maimonides) and RASHI. RAMBAM was born in Golden Age Islamic Spain. His family had to hide their Judaism and eventually flee across and from various Islamic jurisdictions, and eventually settle in Egypt. There RAMBAM was put on trial for his life (for heresy) and we are supposed to be grateful because he was acquitted (probably because he was the doctor to the Egyptian leader). RASHI was born and lived in Christian France. He made wine.
