Obama tells critics to leave his wife alone Mon May 19, 2008 8:50am EDT
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama said on Monday that Republican critics should stop picking on his wife Michelle.
"These folks should lay off my wife," Obama said in an interview with ABC's "Good Morning America."
Obama was referring to a four-minute video posted on YouTube by the Tennessee Republican Party last week during a visit by Michelle Obama that portrayed a remark she made in February in an unflattering manner.
Michelle Obama's remark that "for first time in my adult lifetime I'm proud of my country" stirred a controversy at the time. Critics said it sounded unpatriotic and suggested she had not been proud of her country before her husband's candidacy.

But there are enough people who are on Obama’s side that they will agree with him no matter what he says.
Maybe I shouldn’t say this, but here goes. I have read some of Obama’s autobiography, which recount with horror incidents about African-Americans trying to “look white.” Fair enough. I can’t second-guess someone’s feelings about that.
but Michelle Obama’s hair looks like it has been “straightened,” in every picture I’ve seen.
Again, I don’t have an axe to grind about race. But I do see an inconsistency here that makes me curious.

I’d like to believe you’re right. But, I don’t. One of my measuring sticks is my crazy Democrat brother. He’s an Ohio Democrat, blue collar, traditional. In the past, it was people like him who built America.
The constant drumbeat of the MSM, combined with an unhealthy dose of Bush Derangement Syndrome has led my brother to be an America hater. He doesn’t think he hates America... he just hates everything about the government, and corporate America! But, he loves America, so he says. Figure that one out.
