There’s Too Much at Stake for Conservatives to Shrug Like Atlas
North Star Writers Group ^ | May 19, 2008 | Nathaniel Shockey

Conservatives don’t love John McCain, but unless they’re considering abandoning their cause with Atlas Shrugged proportions, there’s no way in hell they’ll vote for Barack Obama.

Sometimes, things have to get worse before they get better. And with that idea in mind, the conservative movement really is America’s crutch.

The most specific example is economics, as conservatives constantly preach lower taxes and greater individual freedom. One would think that the Bush tax cuts, which have yielded continued economic growth (yes, our economy is growing, despite the lies you keep hearing), and the burgeoning economy during the Reagan Administration would provide enough proof to, at the very least, convince people that maybe, just maybe, there’s something to be said for lower taxes.

Sorry, I didn’t mean you. But some newbies have shown up and have a very pro McCain agenda.

The other day I read where McCain has teams of bloggers discussing his stands online..

My comment was a general statement.

Vehemently disagree. McCain would be more damaging to conservatism than Obama. The next 2-4 years are going to be very, very hard. Regardless of who gets elected. However, the man in charge takes the blame. McCain will be up against a 70 vote majority house and filibuster proof senate. Anyone who thinks a conservative judge will get through is smoking crack. And its entirely possible they’ll defund the war anyway. So what would we end up with? A global warming believing, gitmo closing-captured terrorist coddling, tax hiking (and lying), free speech suppressing, angry socialist.

You ain't so crazie, man. Blackbird.

I agree. McCain has to make some concessions to conservatives, at least two of which he has made already. What would be enough for you?

Oh? Which "concessions" were these, pray?

How many concessions will Obama make to conservatives do you think?

Crashingly irrelevant, as Obama is not running as the Republican candidate for the presidency this year; McCain is.

No. Saying I will vote for Obama if I don't vote for McCain is a false dichotomy. I will vote for neither.

Besides the fact that a vote for McCain is abandoning our cause with Atlas Shrugged proportions.

But please tell me how your statement is true.

You didn't ask me, but one way it is true is that we got welfare reform. We would not have gotten that under either Bush.

And under Clinton, we didn't get ADA, we didn't get Medicare Part D, we didn't get McCain-Feingold, and on and on.

By it's signup date, and it's postings that sounds verbatim from the Cheerleading Handbook, I'm truly convinced that it's a campaign plant. The only question is whether it's volunteer work, or pay per click.

I'm leaning towards the latter.

As I said in another thread, McCain is going on Ellen Degenerate's show this week - Ellen has already vowed to get married in California to her "partner" after the ruling this week. McCain really is taking Republicans for granted.
