QUAD CITIES -- Illinois officials have grounded state highway workers, and that means you'll be seeing more dead animals along highways and interstates.
''There's alot more road kill, it's disgusting'', said a driver parked at a rest-stop along Interstate 74. ''It's not a very good image for the state. People drive through and see all that stuff in the road. ''
Al Mustafa says he drives all over the country and noticed this week how bad it was on roads in Illinois.
''Dead deer. I've seen alot more. I seen a trucker almost have an accident trying to avoid one. It's dangerous,'' Mustafa said. ''It's nasty''.
The Illinois State Transportation Department says highway workers can only use thier trucks for emergencies, because their fuel fund for the year is all dried up. A statewide gas freeze now in effect, they blame the state's tough winter and high gas prices for blowing the budget. IDOT says it spent double what it expected, and is overbudget 46-million dollars.
''They can't fix roads, they can't pick up animals, but we can afford the Governor to go from Chicago to Springfield all the time'', said a frustrated Reba Diviney, a passenger passing through from the Peoria area.
State workers won't be picking up road kill, or cutting the grass or picking up trash along highways and interstates. They're still being paid, however.
A 20 million dollar emergency spending bill could be passed next week to get the trucks up and running again. The fiscal year ends June 30th.
''They say they're broke. If they took one cent for every lottery ticket they sold, they will scatter the highway with gold, not jut dead animals'', Mustafa said.
''The state is broken politically and financially'', said one driver.
The future of the USA. Obama, Durbin, Dailey, etc. Rationing, inane thinking.
“Al Mustafa says he drives all over the country...”
With a fuel tanker truck loaded with explosives?
Ya think you could send up some redneck volunteers, what with food prices gettin so high?
IDOT says it spent double what it expected
Just an I short of idiot.
Who the hell is running that state?
What are some of the names of prominent Illinoise politicians? Any names we'd recognize?

Illinois has a governor, but I can’t pronounce his name nor can I spell it. Goblowabitch or something like that. Right now he is being investigated and my end up as a roommate to our previous governor.
It is to buy radio, television, and newspaper advertisements lecturing us to "Click It or Ticket".
I have lived too long.
Yeah, that'll happen.
mmmm, maybe somebody from south chicago?? I hear they are real “fixers”.
Here in Appalachia, you hit it you take it home and eat it—if it’s big enough, otherwise, the vultures get it during the day and the possum eat the rest at night.
Yah know I thought the same thing!
venison free for the taking?

Government in action. Pathetic.
“Illinois governor Goblowabitch or something”
LOLOLOLOL!!!!!!
(I think it’s Blagoyovich or some such)
Heh, heh!
;^)
So what are these government workers being paid to do? Sit around drinking coffee in the garage?
I happened to see an investigative report on the local news (Cleveland) a couple of days ago. They were following city workers in their city vehicles as they spent an hour or more parked in various places reading the paper, having lunch or coffee in the vehicle with the engine running. I don't doubt that the same thing goes on in IL. Run out that fuel budget and they get to sit around because there's no gas for them to go out and work.
Obama. He epitomizes IL.
BS. Most truckers go out their way to splatter these things if they're on the road. Then there's just a red spot.
prison labor.
