I think it's also worth noting that in Louisiana, one need not have a CCW to keep a loaded weapon in your vehicle. Provided one is not barred from owning a weapon in the first place (i.e., convicted felon), the vehicle is considered an extension of the residence, and as long as you're in your vehicle, you can keep a loaded firearm in the gun rack, under the seat, in the center console, glove compartment, etc.

Having said that, it would still be wise to advise any law officer of that fact if pulled over, prior to reaching for your registration, insurance, and voter registration card....

Jeff,

Here is a link to the Nebraska State Patrol website FAQ on Concealed Carry. It clearly indicates that applications can be submitted beginning January 3, 2007.

As is usual/typical in Nebraska, we are the last ones to the party.
