I cannot believe I’m reading this. I guess Senator Harkin thinks enough of the folks that actually went through all this are dead and he can say whatever he wants to. A lot like those holocaust deniers. In fact, he is now a holocaust denier.
So then I mentioned Saddam's use of chemical weapons, and he actually chuckled deprecatingly and admitted, yes, he'd used them on the Kurds. But it was like the Kurds didn't really matter. I can just see someone pointing out to Harkin what happened in Cambodia and him kind of shrugging wryly like, "well, yes, I guess if you want to make a point of it..."

I had just graduated high school at that time and well remember watching this disaster unfold on tv...The airlift from the embassy and the choppers being pushed off of ship decks...And I was mad as hell at the humiliation the US was experiancing and knew the worst was yet to come.
