Good timing. With Dims poised to take more seats in the fall, this is just the shot in the arm the GOP needs. And prices will rise this summer.

Well, President Bush has been more aggressive lately. I’ve seen him have some of that “Texas Swagger” back. Let’s hope he keeps it up, and President Bush attack on that Obama is in favor of an appeasement in mold of “Chamberlain” back in the ‘30s was a good start.

Is the act of requesting it under the FOIA PROOF in itself that the people were interested?

Do you have more info?

GWB may be “on to something” here, but the hapless American people have already tuned him out — three years ago

The American people will be grasping at straws to bring down prices. They've already bought into what the Dims are offering so they know that doesn't work.

Bush hops on Air Force One to visit the King of the UAR to beg for more oil. The King basically tells Bush to get lost. So, except for a friendly visit in Israel on the way to the UAR, Bush did little more than burn off a lot of precious fuel. Then, after returning, Bush whines about the Democrats blocking the development of domestic oil resources, which is basically true. Bush, who during his present term is hated by a large majority of Americans, including those like myself that voted for him, fails to take the next logical step.
Even though 75% of Americans don’t take Bush seriously, the cost of gasoline is a bipartisan issue in the face of every American that owns a car or goes to the market. Democrats and Republicans alike pay $4/gal for gasoline, and almost a dollar more per gallon for diesel fuel, and we all pay more for food.
So, courtesy of the Democrats and RINO’s Bush now has an issue of concern to virtually every American, and nothing to loose if he rides in as a knight in shining armor with a solution. Instead of whining about the Democrats, Bush can and should take a viable proposal for drilling directly to the people to put pressure on a malfeasant Congress to do something. Conservation, and alternate energy are good things and should be pursued, but for now, oil moves our cars and trucks. Just a positive move toward real energy independence would likly bring down world oil prices. Bush needs a no holds barred attack on those that have created this mess, using facts, and naming names. If he angers the Democrats and sends them over the edge, then he will be doing the right thing. Perhaps Bush, in his legacy, can be remembered as the president that changed our 30 year non-energy policy to a real energy policy. He won’t accomplish this by playing nice with the Democrats. This will only happen if he has the balls to take them on in a down and dirty street fight, so to speak.

I will probably get blasted by some for suggesting this, but here goes: Bush and McCain need to closet themselves and come out with your proposal for drilling that can become McCain's energy reformation platform. Let the dems dig their graves by denouncing it and supporting the current do nothing agenda that will lead us to even higher prices at the pump and the ripple effect on consumer prices such as food and clothing.

while I appreciate the electioneered 'lip service' from the new tone guy, an EO at the time of the initial filibuster wouldve been seeing production by now...

Earlier [lip service] ass kissin set this fuel cost situation in motion...

the system is 'broken' because they want it as an issue...nothing more...

My method is too never vote for a promise , vote on ones record. Re-elect no one (unless record is 90% or better conservative) and flush congress in 08 and 10. Cut use of fuel (because I HAVE too ) by two thirds and shop for essentials only. Inform my polidiots that the current (on record) level of donations too their campaigns and pet issues is now aimed at fuel and cost of living due their lack of action, proactive and reactive response to a simple solution.

Cheap energy is a nation builder with a domino effect. People will work, buy, build and travel. This cost of fuel is hardest on the folks that work for less than 10$ an hour .

But they DO WORK versus sit at home like a socialist welfare rat and wait for a handout.

..... They can’t even drive too work in rural areas and feed their families or pay their bills. Crime is shooting up here with just dummies stealing fuel. That is a death sentence after dark here in Texas as ya’ll well know. We almost never parked our vehicles in the garages unless hail was in the forecast but now we leave and enter from the garage. The doors are closed and kept closed. Gates at the end of the driveways are secured and alarms systems are on , dogs are put out at night. Crime levels are gonna shoot up in rural and urban regions like a good corn crop !

Crazy......

Stay safe !

We have a neighbor a few miles away that had all their aluminum siding ripped off their home while they were gone on vacation.......:o)

Copper gutters on homes are targets as well.

Then we get too catalytic converters and vehicle “parts” !

One guy we work with caught the teen punching his gas tank a few weeks ago. The POS took 6 gallons of fuel a few times and let 20 more gallons drain into the street , driveway and storm drains etc on his next too last effort ...... My friend didn’t want too charge the kid with theft but did later when he found it would add to the little losers woes . He turned the hazmat and EPA sorts onto the little punk . Lordy ya do not want the earth police on yer case !

We are following the issue closely and I will post the fun later when it’s over. Looks like the dipsh*t has been charged with about 8 violations of environmental laws, as well as the criminal intent, negligence , attempted arson was mentioned yet I think that one will be a reach. As well a number of things going on we haven’t heard about yet.

Don’t get mad get even........sort of thang !

Kid I went too school with was poor as dirt yet always seem to have gas money when gas money was scarce for the entire community. Seems he’d modified a bilge pump to pull gas out of closed stations tanks up too his . He’d open his trunk, toss a small line down the (then) unlocked ground tank and pump it into his car as he changed a tire in the station lot after they closed. Well cops finally stopped too help the kid one night and ...........busted !

He’d been doing it as long as he’d had his license it appears ! As a teen I took a gallon or two from the lawn mowers or snowmobiles, mom’s station wagon etc yet never from others outside of family owned rides for my motorcycles. Got caught once and my ole man and I had a come to Jesus meeting out back and I understood his message after that !

Loud and clear.....

lesson learned...problem solved...not enough early [handled at 'home'] consequences today IMO...either a kid gets away with and eventually 'grows outta it, like myself [never really developed the nerve for gettin shot over a few bucks], or gets a 'legal' problem that lasts a lifetime...

best I remember, a bud o mine made multiple trips to the same car in a parkin lot one night w/ a ONE gallon can...drank gas EVERY time...lololo...

we couldnt seem to buy enough beer [and I worried everytime he lit a cigg] that night for him to wash out the taste...last time he volunteered to 'buy' the gas/me the beer...
