Since the California Supreme Court lifted the ban on gay marriages, Ellen DeGeneres has announced her plans to wed Portia de Rossi soon. The two have been going together since December of 2004. Is the viewing audience of Ellen ready for that? Or will they be ready to divorce Ellen for putting gay rights front and center?

I saw an excerpt from this, and the liberal audience CHEERED as if Oprah’s Obama was in the room when the popular Ellen made her “announcement”.
I’m pretty sure Ellen’s viewers know she’s gay.
I think the article is referring to one’s knowledge of something vs. having it thrown in your face everyday like Rosie did.
Not very likely. Ellen and her fans are cut from the same cloth. Just good, solid Americans you understand. /s
One thing that can be said for Ellen is that she doesn’t really do that. She also doesn’t have the nasty hostile tone of Rosie who seems to think every sentence has to be prefaced by an announcement that she’s gay. We all know Ellen is gay but Rosie constantly beats everyone over the head with it. There’s a contrast in their personalities.
Still trying to figure out who’s the “man” in that relationship. (rolls eyes)
I agree.
Ellen DeGeneres who? Never watched the show, too busy doing constructive things. I like women who like men, she doesn’t sound like someone that would attract me to her. Can she cook? I always referred to these talk shows as the education programs for the Twinkie, couch and supermarket tabloid crowd.
It’s no secret she’s gay so I doubt the audience will care much unless Ellen turns her show into some sort of constant “lesson” about gay rights.
In the article, I think that is what Tall Horse was getting at.
Ellen's been putting gay rights front and center since she "came out" on her show in 1997. If it hasn't lost her audience for her in the last 11 years, it won't now.
Ellen used her sitcom as a platform, and that was when I lost all respect for her, and I originally adored her. This will be a topic on her talkshow guaranteed. I am not a viewer, but still it will be interesting to find out how far she takes it.
She did initially but she caught on & knocked it off. Unlike someone else we know & loathe. I expect it will be a topic as any other news of the day would be but I’d be surprised if she swings it like a sledgehammer.
I hope my 16 year hetrosexual marriage is not affected by this news...lol. /sarc.
