Crown Heights erupted in anger today as hundreds marched in protest after a 16-year-old Jewish teen was beaten and robbed in the early morning hours.

Police have made no arrests and have named no suspects, but the incident raised tensions that have simmered since the racial uproar of the early 1990s.

"Jewish blood is not cheap and we are making that statement," said Getzy Markowitz, 23, one of up to 300 people who marched in protest yesterday afternoon. "We are standing up for life an standing up for justice."

Cops said that Alon Sherman was riding his bicycle north on Albany Avenue at 12:10 a.m. this morning, when he was smashed in the head by an unknown object.

He couldn't tell cops exactly what happened next, but two 911 calls were made - one of which reported a young man lying in the street and another that reported two suspects fleeing the scene.

Sherman was robbed of his wallet, his cell phone his watch and his bicycle. He was knocked unconscious and left with cuts, bruises and head injuries. He was then taken to Kings County Hospital.

Cops have not ruled the attack a hate crime - angering members of the Jewish community who believe the beating and robbery was directly connected to tensions between Crown Heights' Jewish and African-American communities.

if you take it in the context of the Rev. Al racebaitor and friends in the area when something else happens to another minority group you might be able to empathize with the Jew in question.

Here's a contrast. Now dates and specifics may be fuzzy, but I remeber the gist of it. Anyone doubters can research the dates and details:

mid to late 80s, 2 crimes

first crime- "the central park jogger". young woman jogging in the park is attacked, beaten savagely with a pipe and gang raped by a dozen (or more if I recall) black kids, 15 to 20 years old maybe. Police arrest a bunch of them. Howls of protest, Al Sharpton and his idiots spring into action, allege the NYPD went out and arrested the first 12 black kids they found. racism, police brutality, yada yada yada.

second crime-a couple of black kids go into a pizza joint in Howard Beach Queens( may have been Brooklyn tho..like I said, fuzzy details). they're attacked by some of the local white macho-moron-quido teens.the black kids run away, don't recall if they were roughed up much in the pizza joint. Anyway, as these black kids are running, being chased by the Gotti-youth, one of them runs into trafiic, is hit by a car and killed.

here's the contrast: black pizza kids every bit as innocent as the jogger. the Gotti-youth every bit as viscious as Sharpton's ghetto youngsters. but in court, DNA evidence was required to prove that each and every kid physically assaulted the jogger - some might have been bystanders you know. i think some were aquitted or convicted on lesser charges due to this. While over in Queens (or Brooklyn) the the mobster-wannabes were convicted (or charged at least) just becuse it was proven they were at the pizza parlor and were chasing the black kids.

That actually *was* racism. The actual culprit, Matias Reyes, was already in jail. Those kids were just scapegoats, although they weren't the nicest bunch by any means.

Anne is just trying to score points here. Those kids weren't involved in that attack. Coulter bases her argument on three assumptons, 1. That confessions mean something and 2. that a bunch of feral young gangsters would actually help a rapist without raping the victim themselves. 3. That Reyes acted in groups.

Do you really think that if the young gangsters actually helped Reyes they wouldn't have rolled over on him during their confessions? They only implicated *the other people the police considered suspects*, awfully convenient don't you think?

Do you really think young hooligans with a chance to gang rape are going to pass up the opportunity? If those kids had did it, there would have been a ton more DNA at the scene. These kids didn't become delinquents with their good impulse control.

Finally in the other crimes Reyes was convicted of, *he acted alone*. Why, all of the sudden, do you think he needed a gang of thugs, completely beholden to him, when he'd been a solitary predator in the past?
