I am a local-level GOP officer, and the party will more than likely not be getting my vote for president this fall.
I was one 'til 2006. One of the reasons I resigned is because I would be obligated under our bylaws to support the R nominee and I was concerned it would be McCain.
If your bylaws require you to support the R nominees, then I would respectfully suggest the correct course of action is to submit your resignation. But your bylaws may be different than ours.
I too am a county GOP officer, when my term is up, I'm done, I've wasted enough time trying to change the stupid party. McCain is my Senator, I've been voting against him for years.
bump
Of course, it doesn't matter, because I figured out McCain's strategy this week. He's not trying to sway conservative voters -- his plan is to do this WITHOUT the support of conservatives, instead throwing his chances behind swaying the "Hillary Democrats." It is a strategy that will backfire on him greatly, IMO.
A question: have you been hearing the same sentiments (from the voters in your local GOP district) as the commenters on the blog post?
