Agreed. I can never watch Tony Soprano and his gang without seeing the RNC leadership...only they're not as honest as Tony and his gang.
You mean they're a lot like the Scottish nobility in Braveheart? Duplicitous, cowardly, effeminate, self-seeking?
Here in Oregon we have the only “Republican” Senator on the left coast... Wellll, he has an “R” by his name anyhow. I was asked to give money to his campaign awhile back and I declined. I cited his RINO record and the fact that he doesn’t meet with ordinary folks like the Dem Wyden does. Instead, he hob-nobs with CEOs and corporate Presidents. To me, that’s a sure sign he’s not my representative. He has a Republican challenger this time around and I voted for change.
Ding ding ding ding ding ding ding!
We have a winner here folks! And he's nailed the current crop of Party leaders for the vacant suits they are.
And to think, that there are those out there who still insist we should vote the lesser of two evils.
I suggest we call off the election, save our government money, and declare Obama the winner! Because even if McLame managed to squeak by him( and he wont), how differently would he govern?
A Rush would say, I am exposing absurdity by being absurd.
No, I dont work for NRCC, I am like many of you, unhappy enough with NRCC to stop contributing, so there is much irony with the loaded questions.
I am giving more to this group these days:
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121020675183775497.html?mod=opinion_main_commentaries
... so there is more than enough irony in pegging me (a Club for Growth guy) as a RINO supporter.
I am not even in disagreement with the *constructive* criticism that the Republicans in Congress have to get back to grassroots conservative values and agenda to get back in the game. My concern was the celebration of Republican woes, the over-the-top attacks on Republicans (as if they have done nothing good, when in fact they have done much that is praiseworthy0 and the observation that a Democrat sweep in November would be a disaster for conservatives, so we should not be welcoming such woes.
the phrase ‘beating a man when he’s down’ come to mind.
“Although given the context, the setting, the topic, and the flavor of the evasion, one does tend to wonder why you refuse to answer it. “
Because it was rhetorical silliness. No I am not in NRCC.
And btw, when did you stop beating your wife?
“Some obvious possibilities leap to mind, which I shall leave as an exercise for the reader.”
You would do better to focus your imagination on how to help elect your local and state conservative Republican candidates.
Check my tagline. It’s a longshot, but the only plan that we have to save USA.
Permission granted.
Additions or amendments to the “Conservative Promise to America” is welcome.
Upon further thought, it looks like there are a few key themes
- Energy Independence
- Limited government & lower, fairer taxes
- Accountable Government
- Rule of Law
- Secure borders and end illegal immigration
- End the culture of pork, corruption and earmarks
- Win the war on terror
- protect families
- cheaper health care through free markets
- science not hype on global warming
1) Drilling for domestic oil i.e. ANWR, Bakken Formation (ND), and off shore.
2) Support nuclear power plant, fast track utilities plans to build nuclear plants.
3) Forget about ethanol
4) Pass legislation to stop the boutique gas formulations.
5) Protect our 2nd ammendment rights for all firearms. Even the lowly 6-shooter is a semi-auto.
6) We dont need a nanny. Government is meant to protect our freedoms. Not restrict them. McCain is wrong on campaign finance reform.
7) Protect our borders. Stop illegal immigration NOW. Reform legal immigration, friends who have immigrated have to hire high powered lawyers... This should not be necessary.
8) Pass legislation to build a natural gas pipeline from the north slope to the US or to Canada.
9) Forget about cap-and-trade on carbon. It is a hoax get over it.
10) DEMAND A VOTE ON MAKING BUSH TAX CUTS PERMANENT. FIGHT THE DEMOCRATS ON TAXES 24/7.
11) FIGHT THE DEMOCRAT MAJORITY 24/7 ON GWOT.
12) FIGHT THE DEMOCRAT MAJORITY 24/7 ON THEIR OVER-SPENDING AND LACK OF TRANSPARENCY IN GOVT.
13) FIGHT THE DEM MAJORITY ON TORT REFORM
14) END USELESS BOONDOGGLES AND ZERO OUT EARMARKS AND PORK.
“I think most of us agree with you on this list nearly 100%.”
Good, lets stick to that common ground and build on it.
“People are angry with Republicans because we gave them all the levers of power in DC and they did little or none of the list ...”
More could have been done, but as I’ve said in previous posts, we throw the baby out with the bathwater. 80-90% of the Republicans support most or all of the conservative agenda.
“The saddest thing is that the Republican leaders seem to have “learned” from their drubbing in 2006 that they need to make a hard left turn” .. i dont see that at all,
” instead of realizing that they were turned out of office because they didn’t follow Republican/conservative ideals. “
And I am pointing out that an Obama leftwing sweep and enlarged Democrat congressional majority will move the entire country massively to the left, and so conservative desires to move the GOP to the right would get washed away in that left-liberal Tsunami.
You may be right -- but I have no confidence whatsoever that what WILL "happen with McCain" won't be worse than "the above" by several orders of magnitude.
In a nutshell, if McCain is going to get my vote, it will have to be by virtue of fraudulently filing for an absentee ballot in my name, because NWIH am I going to vote for that democrat in drag (have we already forgotten that the ONLY reason the turncoat didn't join the democrat party outright is because Jeffords stole his thunder, thereby neutering any advantage he'd have gained by being THE knife in the conservative back?)
I am not going to vote for a stealth democrat. I am not going to vote for a mentally unhinged Manchurian Candidate. I am not going to vote for a slimy scumbag who makes a sport of stabbing MY people -- conservatives -- in the back, and then rubbing our face in his proclivity for the "reach-ar... across" maneuver.
The ONLY reason I can find for voting for that piece of work is because there is an "R of convenience" after his name, and frankly, I am no longer a "party line voter." ("I gave most of my adult life to the Republican Party, and all I have to show for it is this stupid broken glass in my knees.")
My purpose in life is NOT "to see that Republicans are the ones cracking the whip over my head, sucking the contents out of my wallet, pissing in my face and telling me I'm thirsty, and then calling me an ingrate when I don't THANK them for it all.
I hope I've made myself clear; and while I am not wont to think myself "spokesman for the masses," I do believe that my sentiments are representative of those of MANY others who have had it up to HERE with the "hey, where are they gonna go anyway?" treatment.
I'll tell you "where I'm gonna go" -- I'm gonna go HOME -- on election day. Or rather, I'm gonna STAY home.
I hope the fatcats have enjoyed all the years of free ride they got out of me, and those like me. The Abused Wife Syndrome: RIP, 2008.
It is up to over 1,500 posts as I write this, and golly, those are some cranky GOPers.
...under Ford, a Republican. And his reply I'd figure to be the same as McCain or any RINO could feed the sheeple: "We did the best we could."

“As president, I will secure the border. I will restore the trust Americans should have in the basic competency of their government. A secure border is an essential element of our national security. Tight border security includes not just the entry and exit of people, but also the effective screening of cargo at our ports and other points of entry.” —John McCain

I pledge to vacation with the little green guys from Mars this summer. See how easy it is to make meaningless pledges?
Do you honestly think that McCain’s current association with La Raza and numerous hardcore open borders advocates are going to magically disappear just as soon as he's elected?
If you believe what McCain says, why do you think he surrounds himself with people who have a vastly different message and who broadcast their conflicting message loudly?
“A question: have you been hearing the same sentiments (from the voters in your local GOP district) as the commenters on the blog post?”
I would say so. I live in an ultra-conservative military community in central Texas. In my county, we only have one county-wide office occupied by a democrat, and he is retiring(and being replaced by a Republican in January).
The interesting thing is that because of the military voters, a lot of people here like McCain’s military background, but they still hate many of his positions. A lot of the black soldiers are supporting Obama, but obviously not because of any of his policy positions.
This election is not something many conservatives here are looking forward to.
It’s still going strong!
Yup. ;)
But the 1 million $ question is; is anyone at the RNCC or the RNC paying attention?
“is anyone at the RNCC or the RNC paying attention”
I doubt it. Or they haven’t figured out how to spin it yet.
I also left a message at Coles congressional office email:
“CAN YOU HEAR US NOW?”
If they're as ideologically craven and intellectually dishonest as their paid Team Juan shills, hereabouts: not a chance.
