RUSH: The big news today is that George Bush is over in Israel, and in a speech at the Knesset he made some comments about how talking to tyrants is not the way to defeat them. Magic words are not going to convince your enemies to all of a sudden realize they are wrong. He said this is appeasement. The Obama campaign is erupting. They all think it's about them. Puff Daschle went, for him, what is ballistic on Fox today on the phone. I think the Puffster was actually spitting and might have shorted out his phone. Then they got the haughty John Kerry on the phone to talk about this. Howard Dean has said that McCain should denounce Bush's remarks from Israel. Nancy Pelosi says Bush's comments are beneath the dignity of the office. Here's what Bush said this morning in Jerusalem, a portion of his remarks. This is a Limbaugh echo, by the way. This is the kind of language that he should have been using about Democrats for all these years. Listen.
THE PRESIDENT: Some seem to believe that we should negotiate with the terrorists and radicals as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they had been wrong all along. We've heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American Senator declared, "Lord, if I could only have talked to Hitler, all this might have been avoided." We have an obligation to call this what it is, the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history.

Hallelulah!
Has the Whitehouse already backed down on this? Have they apologized? I don’t hold President Bush or many politicians in very high esteem these days, but if they don’t back down and start trying to explain what they really meant I’ll have less hard feelings. President Bush or the press secretary should state, “It’s curious (emphasis on Curious as in George) why Obama and the Democrats would immediately jump to the conclusion that when talking about appeasers I was referring to him.
President Bush was speaking about history, something the Demo-rats know nothing about ... we were negotiating with the Japanese when they bombed Pearl Harbor ... Chamberlain was negotiating with Hitler when Hitler was planning on taking over Czechoslovakia ...... yeah, right ... negotiate with evil ....
Great speech by Bush. Touche
FANTASTIC!!!!!!!! Good for Our Great President!!!!!!!!
THE DEMORATS SCREAMED LIKE STUCK PIGS!!! only because they Love the Terrorists.
I was enjoying all the liberal lemmings blowing their tops after President Bush dared finger them as the traitorous fools they are. If only he’d did this for the whole time and hadn’t wasted so much of the Presidency calling them Patriots. A Patriot does not rush in to excuse our enemies and blame America first. Calling any of the Democrat party Patriots soils the word.
I find it striking that Democrats never get this angry and vicious when it comes to our nation's enemies.
A trait about Democrats I noticed when I was a child during the Cold War... still the same backstabbing "Dear Commandante" buffoons they were back then.
Obama to Bush: "No I'm not! I called time out!! MOMMY!!!!!!!"
I’m enjoying this little drama immensely, but I don’t think the Bush Admin policies match his words in re Israel vis a vis Iran etc, etc.
But this is nice, it’s good old fashioned crawfish’ like he used to do in his first term before they got him fully trained as a doubletalkin’ president who never says anything that anybody might take offense at.
Now, wouldn’t it be great if this was the prelude to a new strong, offensive policy toward the beast in Tehran. Not holding my breath, but all the ones in the know are saying we has to do something pdq.
Now there is the Bush I remember throwing that perfect pitch middle of the plate at the 2001 World Series in NY. Where has he been? God I miss him.
Chamberlain came correct when it became apparent he had been duped, so he gets a bit of a bum rap in history.
Ooooh yeah! Dead Right!
I’m a little surprised McCain didn’t criticize the President’s speech and apologize to the Democrat party on behalf of all Republicans over the President’s racist and divisive remarks.
We never get any red meat any more. McCain hired that talk show host to throw some red meat and he referred to Barack HUSSEIN Obama and McCain fired and denounced him.
That’s tomorrow’s press conference.
