You joke about that but California is a huge source of our nations food supply.Well, true. But mostly because of huge government subsidies for the cost of water in the Central Valley. Without those subsidies, the Central Valley is MUCH less competitive with the Midwest.

OK, so maybe we’ll just peal off the coast and keep the inland part that actually produces the food that you reference. The inlanders’ counties and districts are conservative voting.
