Pelosi: Bush Comments 'beneath The Dignity Of The Office' May 15, 2008(The Politico) Democratic House leaders are calling out President Bush for a speech in Israel in which he seemed to suggest that Sen. Barack Obama wants the United States to "negotiate with terrorists."

In his speech, Bush said: "Some seem to believe we should negotiate with terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along."

The White House insists that Bush was "referring to a wide range of people, not any single person." But Obama's campaign says it appeared to be a swipe at him, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that Bush's remarks were "beneath the dignity of the office of the president and unworthy of our representation" at the celebration of Israel's 60th anniversary.

Referring to Sen. John McCain, Pelosi said: "I would hope that any serious person that aspires to lead the country, would disassociate themselves from those comments."

As Pelosi was speaking, House Democratic Caucus Chairman Rahm Emanuel issued a statement in which he said: "The tradition has always been that when a U.S. president is overseas, partisan politics stops at the water's edge.

Have you noticed how, when Republicans are attacked by Democrats, the Republican responds by explaining, clarifying, and/or apologizing? But when Democrats are criticized by Republicans, they always reply by attacking the Republican... who responds by explaining, clarifying and/or apologizing.

As Manager Casey Stengel once asked of his hapless 1962 Mets: "Is there anyone here who knows how to play this game?"

What a bunch of Pansies! This reaction just proves Bush’s point. He directed his comments to all of these morons!

And they want to run the country?

Wonder how “offended” they’ll be when the next terror attack hits.

I am offended that Pelosi would even try this tactic, particularly in light of the bombing in Israel yesterday!

Nancy needs to go back to her beloved moral cesspool in S.F.

Nancy Pelosi, assuming the acting-role of "Commander-in-Chief" in Syria, negotiating with terrorists (ignored by Pres. Bush)
as she gave them the DNC 'green light' for nuclear weapons and their attacks into Lebanon.

Every time Israel or the West have attempted to engage the Islamists, disaster has ensued. As a result of “engaging” Ayatollah Khomeini, for example, Jimmy Carter helped bring about the fall of the Shah, the American hostage debacle and 28 years of the Iranian jihad against the free world.

Moreover, far from refusing to have anything to do with Hamas, since 1991 Europe, America and Israel have all made repeated contacts with it through back channels. Yet far from moderating its stance, it has instead become even stronger through perceiving the weakness of a free world so desperate to mollify it.

I don’t see Republicans lined up at microphones defending Bush, either.

Telling the truth isn’t beneath the dignity of the office, Madame Speaker.

However, getting blown by your intern while on the phone is.

Hey you nincompoops - "tradition" also has always been for partisan politics to stop at the water's edge when in a time of war.

These people's disengenousness continues to astound...

In addition, Pres. Bush named no names, so for Peeelosi and gang and the obamama to assume he meant obamama, means the shoe fits. By their own protestations, they own the accusation/

You might want to take a minute to consider what she says, after all, the democrats are the experts on what’s beneath the dignity of the Oval Office resident.

Good point. Which has been a major part of the problem the last 7 years.

Pelosi, Kerry, Biden, Emmanuel—all have come out with outrageous comments today about the Presidents remarks.

And the response from the GOP leadership?

Beuhler? Beuhler? Anyone?.......

One of my daughters teaches “civics” in a large American city. Her students know that Nancy Pelosi is Speaker of the House. They also know to describe her as an “idiot”. My daughter’s excuse is that it is the opinion of her dad, LOL.

Wow, it looks like the President hit a nerve. If their protestations weren’t so hypocritical it would almost be humorous. Instead it is simply sickening.

"Some seem to believe we should negotiate with terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along."

If the Democratic party agrees with that statement, then it's not partisan.

Haven't you heard? The GOP has changed up their game. They went from girl's softball to whiffle ball with a 7th inning apology stretch.

Aw, San Fran Gran Nan is just mad ‘cause President Bush turned down tea party invitations from all the Jew-hating leaders of the countries that surround Israel!!

Oh, wait—Nancy DID accept those tea party invites, and sucked up to the Jew-hating leaders of the countries that surround Israel—even wearing a scarf in honor of Islam! Yup, she sure knows a lot about ‘the dignity of the office’, huh?
