My neighbor has a pit bull that jumped the fence and attacked my Basset Hound. I heard my dog howling and went out to find that the pit bull had my dog by the throat. After chasing to dog off with a shovel I demanded that my neighbors chain it to a tree if they couldnt control it.
My dog is now scared to go outside, and the neighbors dog having learned that he could scale the fence and that my dog is terrified of it now goes ballistic everytime it is outside at the same time as my dog. The neighbors apparently will not chain their dog, but at least the husband will jump on the dog’s back and wrap his arms around the dog to hold it back if my dog happens to be doing his business at the same time as they let the pit bull out.
I don’t want to call the authorities on my neighbors but my patience has long since worn thin. The dog is a public menace and needs to be controlled. I am worried to let my 10 year old son go in the backyard because of it.
Walk your dog in the yard with a rifle, if the pitbull goes over the fence.....
By the way did you report the first attack to the police? Most jurisdictions only allow 1 or 2 “bites” before the dog is put down.
No offense but what are you waiting on? How are you going to feel when that damn dog attacks your kid? I would protect my family and to hell with the neighbor.
Sorry to be so blunt, but you're a fool if you haven't called the authorities about this (or taken the matter into your own hands with that shovel late at night). Your neighbors dog has already demonstrated that it can jump your fence and attack in your yard and yet you're letting your young child and your own pet out in your yard and hoping nothing happens? You don't want to risk offending your neighbors by calling animal control but you're willing to risk you son's life instead? Lord protect your dear child from your neighbors dog and from his negligent parents.
Although I understand that you don’t want a conflict with your neighbors, you should see about getting their dog on the vicious animals list, if your city keeps one.
Irresponsible owners like that shouldn’t have anything more dangerous than a chihuahua, imo, and they are making things worse for the people that actually care for and control their pit bulls.
If they are the type that you can have a conversation with, you could suggest they join a bully breeds group or a weight pull class so they can learn why their dog’s so mean and hopefully correct it.
The dog needs to be D-CON-taminated.....;^)
Why don’t your husband kill the dog then?
a little cheese-flavored anti-freeze will fix your problem, if you get my drift...
