Prayers for Jim Robinson
May 14, 2008
Posted on 05/14/2008 5:16:40 PM PDT by trussell
Prayer Request Jim Robinson is having surgery tomorrow, May 15th See the posts below for information about this procedure. Jim Update:
It has been a frustrating day, I finally have a update for everyone.
I called Jim at the hospital. The nurse was in his room and gave him the phone. Sheila took his cell phone to him so I will be able to contact him easier. Also they took his laptop.
Due to major pain killers, he was able to sleep in the bed last night and was in bed when I called.
He sounded better than he has for the past few months. He will be there for at least one more night; maybe more depending on decisions being made tonight.
They may remove Jim's left leg at the knee tomorrow. The docs have told him that the poison in that leg is going to continue causing problems.
Jim is really reluctant to let them remove the leg but I told him that if it will relieve the pain and stop all the damage it is doing to his internal organs, he should let them take it. Jim cannot use his legs now. He only has limited use of his right leg and no muscle remains in his left leg. The muscular dystrophy has done a number on his muscles while he has been ill.
I hope this makes sense.
When I hear what the decision is, I will let you know. In the meantime, Jim needs our prayers tonight and tomorrow.
Father, hear our prayers. 930 posted on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 8:55:24 PM by JustAmy*********************************
Thanks for all the updates, Amy I just talked to Chris and he said that Notpoliticallycorewrecked is visiting with Jim at this time. He also said that the Doctors have decided that tomorrow Jim has to make the decision about his leg The Doctors believe, as you stated, that it has to be removed to keep the infection from spreading. So I imagine that is the decision he will make. Don't worry about him getting online, he has an air card so he can get online anywhere. He misses being able to read and post here tremendously naturally. This is his baby. Good news that the swelling has gone down dramatically in his left leg and that for the first time in months he is not in pain 24 hrs a day and was able to sleep more than usual. Chris had no idea how long he would be hospitalized, but I would imagine it will be several more days, especially if the operation on his leg is done soon. Good advice you gave Jim, Amy. Yes, Mama Bear don't hesitate to visit, it will be highly appreciated and encouraging to see such good friends as you and that jk I'm sure Jim is blessed indeed to have family that are watching over him closely and taking care of his needs, getting him to the hospital and other numerous tasks And the legion here that are pulling for him.

**************************************** Today's short update:
I just talked to Jim; the surgery will be performed tomorrow. He doesn't know what time yet. He said he is feeling pretty good. Also, he slept off and on last night. May have been due to the stress.
I am going to try to see him this afternoon. He has some tests scheduled but he doesn't think they will take very long.
He is not allowed to have his laptop in the patient area so he cannot get online until he can get down to the lobby.
His words ..... "Please tell everyone how much I appreciate their thoughts and prayers. Oh Yeah ..... tell them I'll be back online as soon as I'm able.
Anyway, thank you for your prayers.

That’s wonderful news. God bless him./

If Jim was going to have post-surgical complications, they would have set in by now. It looks like the worst is over.
That is terrific news.
As we’ve come to expect, Jim never moans or complains about his medical situation, so I’m not surprised that he’s not doing it now. However, this was a big deal. Not every man could have more than half a leg taken off and remain cheery.
I’m pretty sure I’d be severely bummed and pleased to tell everyone so.
Hats off to Jim.

Just got back from my daughter receiving her undergraduate degree AND my son graduating from Georgetown Law School, so with a heart already filled with pride and gratitude, came across your post with those pictures. It brought a tear to my eye. Whether we are just a shmoe going about our daily business or a very visible conservative icon we all live out our conservative core values and are brothers and sisters because of it.
I am so proud to be an American and a FReeper, and to know that this country still produces individuals like our beloved Jim Robinson.
Thanks again Syncro and keep fighting Jim!
(Note: I won’t ruin that thought with a discourse on the guest speaker’s speeches at both graduations... Annie...made me want to throw whip cream pies in their faces...but I didn’t!)

Heavenly Father, I thank You for the community of believers that You have gathered under the banner of Free Republic ... thank You for drawing us as one as we continue to pray for Jim and Sheila and their family. Quickly bring health and healing, O God, that Jim would soon be able to continue his work. We Praise You for those who have stepped in to help ... we Thank You for the untold numbers who have prayed ... but most of all, Dear Lord, we Thank You that You have heard ... and answered ... and we Worship and Glorify Your Blessed Name. Amen ...

Thanks, dog gone! Yes, it was quite a complicated ordeal. I do not think I would cope with it as well as Jim has...he is a great and wonderful gentleman!

Thanks for the pics of the cards. Lest there was ever any doubt....
Jim, you had posted in on Mrs Don-o prayer thread last week for her surgery. Happy to report that ten days out, she has had a picture perfect recovery. We both have held your situation in our hearts and brought you to the Good Lord many times in the interim.
T'will be great to see you back in the Captain's Chair real soon.

I noticed some one wanted proof that Jim got flowers from Hot Blonde Conservative Babes
Now we know the real reason why he started FR! So much for the conservative cause!
