The Navy closed the range in Vieques in April 2003 following years of protests after two errant bombs killed a security guard.

And the prize? The local economy lost $250 million per year when the Navy closed the associated base Roosevelt Roads, which without Vieques was useless.

Yeah, the local were sh*tting their pants over Roosie Roads. That wasn't part of the deal they thought they were getting. Sucks to be them...
