The problem is, I think he DOES "believe" in Iraq, but lacks Bush's larger vision for how to win the WoT. In other words, he's thinking tactically, not strategically. He's Ambrose Burnside, heading into Fredricksburg, when we need a Ulysses Grant heading to Appomattox.

If that's true, it eliminates the only reason for which I'd vote for him. My head really hurts.

Well, it burdens me greatly to say this. I actually voted for McCain when he first ran for John Rhodes' seat back in AZ years ago. He used to be conservative. But it's clear he's not a sharp thinker now.

What's his plan for dealing with AQ? Ending waterboarding and closing Gitmo? Yeah, that's brilliant. We need to "stay in" Iraq, but only as a BATTLE that we need to win on the way to VICTORY. I don't see McCain showing the slightest sense of what the larger battlefield looks like.
