A change of brands because of RINOism. The Republican brand has been tarnished because moderates have run the party into the ground. Nominating McCain is the last straw. Hey, I want a more conservative party. I just don’t think the country is ready to vote for what it percieves as anything Republican (lite, rino, conservative or otherwise) at the present moment. John McCain has a shot, not because of his policies (which are rino) but because he is seen as a maverick...something outside the brand....
I agree that the party needs to soul search. It needs to go back to its optimism in the individual. Not the visceral anti-government finger pointing (or the touchy-feely social-program-sponsoring we see under W). It needs a platform that celebrates the greatness of the American people as individuals—appeal to our greatness, our affinity for the liberty to do what we want privately, not under the yoke of a nanny state or over-regulated markets.
I am afraid we may need several years of Democrat beuracracy/free-handout-creation/collectivism, to remind voters why Reagan won 49 out of 50 states.
