(IsraelNN.com) Anti-Defamation League (ADL) director Abe Foxman said Tuesday afternoon that mainstream media are turning against Israel. One of the guests at the three-day Presidential Conference in Jerusalem, he told Voice of Israel government radio, "Painting Israel as the cause of the nakba [catastrophe] has taken root in the mainstream."
Foxman pointed out that both The New York Times and the Washington Post published front-page articles on Israel's Independence Day that focused on Arab suffering as well as Jewish celebrations instead of describing the miracle of the re-establishment of the Jewish state.
He added that American Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, when asked why American President George W. Bush is visiting Israel to help celebrate Israel's existence, stated that the American government is dealing with the consequence of the re-establishment of the State of Israel.
American Jews are in danger also...

Israel projects weakness & allows disrespect. This is one of the consequences.
Look, Jews have no one to depend on besides each other. Depending on other people is suicidal. We need to worry about each other & stop the obsession with the media, world opinion, the UN, etc.
The enemy of Israel is on the left, and is at the worst on campuses in the US and Europe. Given the opportunity, the American and European intelligensia will insist on policies that are certain to get Israeli Jews killed on a vast scale.

True, but the ADL is not a good choice to press this. They tned to overplay, if not exacerbate antisemitism for fundraising purposes.
Mr. Foxman needs to read the old poem, to paraphrase:
“When the media went after the Conservatives, I did nothing because I wasn’t a Conservative.
When the media went after the Catholics, I did nothing because I wasn’t Catholic...”

Exactly right, forkinsocket! Israel and the Jewish people do have genuine allies and friends among many Christians, so take heart in that fact. But Israel and the Jewish people need to ignore what the world opinion, media, UN, etc. think, do what it takes to survive, rely on the Almighty, and let the world/media, etc. complain all they want. The world/media, etc. have always been against Israel and that won’t change. Israel’s Christian friends have grieved at the weakness and corruption of Olmerde and his governement. We want a strong Israel that can be what it was meant to be, a safe and secure refuge for the Jewish people.
But I think I might be preachin’ to the choir, to use an old Southern American expression.

Abe Foxman, master of the obvious! Since when has the mainstream media in the last 40 years not been against Israel! Get a clue, Abe, the mainstream media has been saying bleep about Israel since right after the Six Day War, if not before!
Based on what I hear many are indeed already turned off by Obama. It's been very encouraging to hear the shift in attitudes since the pastor became an issue.
This could be a watershed election for American Jews. One can always hope!
Foxman’s just now waking up to this? Where has he been in the past 20 years, under a rock? Too busy attacking conservative Catholics for liking the Passion of the Christ to notice that anti-Semitism has become rampant on the left?
