I find it hard to be surprised by this when the GOP morons couldn’t get it done when they controlled the house, senate and the white house.
Did anyone really expect the dems to be the champions of drilling in ANWR when they came into power?

And how did our nominee vote? Did he stand up for pixie dust?

The GOP needs to keep hammering away at this relentlessly. It’s an election year issue that’s a big winner.

Thanks for the heads up “jazusamo”!
Well, all we need is the list of the “nays”.
I bet there's not one them who voted against it up for reelection in November...

Every vote for a Dimmocrat is a vote for higher energy prices. We're the only country on the face of the earth that put our own natural resources off-limits so we can increase our trade deficit.

Did anyone really expect the dems to be the champions of drilling in ANWR when they came into power? No but I expect they wanted the campaign issue this fall. Unfortunately, our nominee probably stood with the anti-capitalists...again.

If the Republican party were effective, this would be the PR campaign of the centuryAbsolutely correct. However, our side sucks at getting the message out.

Why the hell did they not get it done while they held power?????Check out the "Gang of 14". A bunch of RINOs voting with the leftists. That includes McCain. The conservative GOP never had a solid majority in the Senate.

This ends the hope of drilling in Alaska for a decade or more. Whomever wins in November they’ve all gone on record as being against drilling.
The caribou can rest easy on their ice, and Santa and his elves will keep on making toys for all the good little girls and boys. Only Santa, since he has those well rested reindeer, won’t have to pay $5 a gallon to drive his red sleigh.

Dick Durbin is truly one of the stupidest people I have ever heard speak about energy. He claims that “we” cannot “get out of this” by drilling yet all around us, Canada, Mexico, Cuba, China, Venezuala all ALL drill for oil because that is the only way to get it.

Were the 56 votes for cloture (4 short of 60 needed) or were they against cloture which would mean 18 short of the 60 needed?
To: henkster
The silence from the GOP on this is deafening. So Mitch McConnell made the mandatory press briefing, AND THAT'S IT??? Unbelievable.
Why are Republicans screaming to high-heaven on this one?
Hmmmm,,,,Maybe it's because the GOP'S VERY OWN PRESIDENTAL NOMINEE OPPOSES DRILLING ANWR too!!!
