"His True Name Is Barak Hussein Muhammed Obama"

"His True Name Is Barak Hussein Muhammed Obama"

No Muhammed or Mohammed in Obama’s name

A chain e-mail that originates with a letter from American missionaries working in Kenya warns about Sen. Barack Obama’s ties to Kenya and its opposition party, encouraging readers “not to be taken in by those that are promoting him.”

Among the many allegations is one about Obama’s name: “By the way. His true name is Barak Hussein Muhammed Obama. Won’t that sound sweet to our enemies as they swear him in on the Koran! God bless you.”

The e-mail reads like a bad game of “telephone,” its claims drawn from assorted people and sources that have been stitched together. And yet, because it is signed by real people, who have a life in Africa, it somehow carries more credence than your average blog posting — and it’s spreading rapidly. ( Read the e-mail here. )

Let’s be clear: The senator from Illinois who is running for president of the United States is named Barack Hussein Obama Jr. His campaign has insisted that is his full name (no Muhammad). We’ve checked this before and found it to be blatantly wrong. But since the rumor persists, we decided to dig deeper.

We have now searched every public record we can access and find nothing to support the notion that Obama has a second middle name of "Muhammed" or "Mohammed." Only in the ether of chain e-mails does this allegation fly.

We have a copy of Obama's marriage certificate from the Cook County Bureau of Vital Statistics in Illinois. Barack H. Obama married Michelle L. Robinson on Oct. 3, 1992, in Chicago. (And, yes, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. officiated.)

We looked at Obama’s driver’s license record in the state of Illinois, and the name reads: Barack H Obama. (Senator, just a reminder that your license is up for renewal this year).

We searched property records for Obama and found listings under the names Barack Hussein Obama and Barack H Obama.

We also found Obama’s registration and disciplinary record with the Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court of Illinois. ( You can see it here. ) Barack Hussein Obama was admitted as a lawyer by the Illinois Supreme Court on Dec. 17, 1991. (By the way, Obama has no public record of discipline.)

We tried to obtain a copy of Obama’s birth certificate, but his campaign would not release it and the state of Hawaii does not make such records public.

Loren Davis, whose wife Celeste wrote the e-mail, says he can’t substantiate the claim.

“That was what we heard there (in Kenya),” Davis said in an interview with PolitiFact. He says they’ve lived and worked in Kenya for the past 12 years and this was a personal letter “never intended to be forwarded or sent out to the Web.”

Regardless, it’s time to ground this charge once and for all. His name is Barack Hussein Obama. There is simply no evidence anywhere to support the allegation that his name is something else. We’re going to rule the way we have before. Pants on Fire!

BS to that.

While I was in South America running a surgery clinic my last two children were born and both hold dual citizenship.

By United States law they were citizens the minute the doctor delivered them, so says their embassy birth certificates.

Legally, of course, any marriage ceremony undertaken between Barack Sr. and Stanley Ann was invalid ab initio because of Barack Sr.’s existing marriage in Kenya, but it would still be damaging to show definitively that Stanley Ann hadn’t at least tried to marry Barack Sr.

On balance, I tend to believe that Barack’s studied uncertainty as to his parent’s marital status amounts to a concession that no marriage ever actually occurred. A man as obsessed with his biological father as Obama claims to have been wouldn’t have been satisfied with not knowing the actual particulars.

Yes, but I believe that Panama is one of the 57 United States.

It was. Until Carter gave it away. (The fallout of bad decisions from this guy is amazing.)

I'm not scared of Muslims. I'm scared of Saul Alinsky disciples who want to take away my rights.

And muslims don't want to take away our rights? The koran is nothing more than a field manual for making war against the rest of the world and taking away their rights.

Muslims can not destroy this country. Americans can not be defeated from those abroad. Attacks from abroad unite this country.

The "American" left is the real enemy. George Soros is more dangerous than anything out in the Middle East.

The same holds for death certificates in some states. If one is not the spouse of child of someone who is deceased then getting hold of s death certificate is not always allowed. Those who work at all in genealogy can attest to that.

I don't think Obama was ever a practicing Muslim, but since his father was, under Sharia law, he was a Muslim at birth. When he registered for Catholic school in Indonesia, the forms listed his religion as Muslim. Again, in a Muslim country it was probably the easiest thing to put down. I'll accept that. Given that he spent his teen years getting high most of the time, it doesn't sound like he was serious about religion. Then he claims he was introduced to Christianity by Rev. Wright. Well, that's a pretty strange brand of “Christianity” but let's assume he is being sincere.

There are two things that are indisputable. First, most Muslims around the world consider him to be a Muslim. At a recent Islamic summit reporters noted the buzz around the event was that it looked like America was about to elect a Muslim president. What proof of the greatness of Allah!

The second is that under Sharia, Obama by his own account is an appostate. That is a crime, one that must be punished by death. If he is elected, it will become known fairly soon throughout the Muslim world that he is an apostate. It will be the obligation of the faithful to kill him. How is that going to affect American relations with the Muslim world? It's one thing to have dealings with Christians. That's allowed under Islamic law under strict guidelines. But dealing with an apostate is an entirely different matter. It's going to be an issue if he is elected, and it ought to be brought up if he gets the nomination.

Have you looked at the Muslim population within this country lately?

If you truly think there is no danger, you need to visit Europe.

We tried to obtain a copy of Obama’s birth certificate, but his campaign would not release it and the state of Hawaii does not make such records public

That is of course the one document, provided it has not been amended, that would prove the matter one way or another. Since the article refers to his "original name", not the name he has used as an adult.

Nothing illegal about not using ones full name, many people who are here legally from various Spanish speaking countries drop their mothers maiden name or in the case of a woman, their father's family name, and the "de" to conform to US practices. Some Asians reserve the order of their name to correspond to the US practice of given names first and family name last.

But not having the birth cert released doesn't mean he didn't have Mohamed in his name. Might be useful to look into his parents wedding license, and even better his father's entry documents.

That’s like releasing their social security number.

Not really. There's not much you can do with an uncertified copy of a birth certificate, there's plenty you can do with just SS number.

A birth certificate is a public document.

Apparently not in Hawaii, according to the article and the link above.

However there does seem to be a process for verification of the information on the certificate. And it only costs $5 to have it done. You have to provide the information, and they they will apparently tell you if it is correct or not.

Supposedly McCain is not native born.

He is, by law, a person born to two American citizens is a native born citizen. He was born on a US Navy base in the Panama Canal zone where his father was a submariner. Even if only his father had been a citizen, and he was born on that base, he'd be a natural born citizen. The rules have changed somewhat since he was born, they are more relaxed now, but even under the rules then in effect, and there is no grandfathering, he is a native born citizen.

I sorta wish he wasn't, because then he'd never have run, and we might actually have a chance to beat Obama and/or Clinton.

More likely the birth certificate somehow corroborates the growing suspicion that Barack Obama Sr. and Stanley Ann Dunham never formally married.

That would seem fairly likely. But it could be for more than one reason of course. As much of a PC Flower Child his mother was, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it were shown that he did have Mohamed in his name, IF his father did as well. (He is a Junior, with the same name as his father, is he not?)

He was born to an American military family which was serving outside CONUS...he is an American citizen.

But under the law, then and now, even that much is not required. Only that both parents be citizens, with some other minor conditions which the McCains would have satisfied, and in fact most of those exempt children of a parent or parents serving in the US Military.
