The vehicle theft suspect was shot and killed by a homeowner as the suspect drove his vehicle at him Thursday morning.

Cody Geneha, 22, told police he was inside his home, near 31st and Glendale avenues, when he heard his truck being started at around 12:30 a.m.

Geneha picked up a gun and went outside where he saw a man driving away in his truck.

The vehicle thief made a U-turn and accelerated toward the homeowner, who was standing on the sidwalk, according to police.

The homeowner fired several shots at the man in the truck.

Instead, the Police Department advises people who suspect a crime to call 911 and, Tranter said, to act as "good witnesses."

Reading just the first page of the readers' comments at the end of the article indicates they don't buy this idiotic comment either. In fact, most of them sound like this thread, so there's still hope for Arizona.

It’s treated as a theft - the insurance company is responsible for any damages (if he has comp) during the theft, and thus owes the polocy holder for repairs less deductible.

Good point.

The dead goblin's family should have to pay the deductible.

Plus it would be his "homeowner's" policy at least in Texas.

I wonder if it would be possible to sue the robber’s estate or his family for the deductible.

I can totally support being a 'good witnesses'. I expect I will get the clearest picture of what is going on if I view it through one eye, over a set of tritium sights, by the light of the muzzle flash.

It is. Your insurance company will also do this, if it believes it can recover damages.
