Darn it. They grabbed my wife, our seven kids, my three aunts and about 24 cousins. Now what will I do on Friday nights?

You'll have the HDTV to yourself

If we were clever, we would wait till they all came in, then we would all leave and take over all the territory they left. Logistically we would move fewer people.

There is a bison ranch in Postville, probably belongs to Agri.

I live in San Diego (North County). I was in Brueggers Bagels yesterday. (We used to go there every Sunday after Mass to pick up bagels and haven't been for at least a year.) Every last person working there was Mexican who could barely speak English!

I am so frustrated.

The problem is plausible deniability. To get off scott free all they have to do is say, “Gee, they looked real to me.” There is no accountability or consequence for the employers as it is.

That’s why they have to use the RICO law. Under RICO the feds can freeze your assets as well as the companies’ assets just with the accusation. You then have to apply to the court for money to live, or pay a lawyer, or pay court filing fees to appeal, etc. (The Court can grant your request or refuse it.) And you have to prove your assets were not acquired with income from the crime you are accused of in order to get them back.

That’s how they get so many wise guys to plead out.

Turn a few of these criminals and their families into street people, living under a bridge and see what happens. They would only have to do it to the board and executives of one or two companies and top management of every company from the local grass cutting company to Exxon would be falling all over themselves to rid their companies of illegal aliens.

” to their “animal rights specialist” Temple Grandin.

I've never heard she is an animal rights supporter. From what I know of her work, she supports studying animal behavior so animal agriculture can work with the animals in a more efficient manner.

Less stress on the animals means more, and better quality milk and meat.

Meat quality suffers dramatically when hogs and cattle are stressed right before slaughter in slaughter facilities. There is equipment and pen designs that can lessen that stress, and put higher quality meat in the meat case.

Pork for instance, will get an unnatural red color, or be soft and mushy (as opposed to its normal pink color) if the animals are overly stressed.

And also how the animals are loaded and trucked to slaughter is very important.

I'm all for that.

If Ms Grandin has gone beyond that, that's new to me.

PETA was attempting to shove her on Agri for a six-figure salary as a “consultant” which is more than any rabbi, mashgiach, shochet, or treiber makes.

If Agri wanted to hire her on their own, that’s their business, but not as a result of threats, shakedowns and a smear campaign from PETA.

I haven't followed her work for 6 or 7 years.
But at that time, she was highly in demand in the packing industry.
Her work was thought to bring more profit to the packing plants.
It would seem like her methods make more money for any packing plant.
I wasn't aware that PETA had tried to influence her hiring by the kosher plant in Postville.
If she has changed and is a closet PETA sympathizer, that would news to me.
I will read up on her again.

I don’t know as much about Grandin as you do. I never heard of her until PETA used her as part of their jihad against Agri.

Someone upthread complained that Agri was not following kosher practices by citing a video produced by PETA. I never heard of any kosher certifying organization issue a warning against Agri for not following kosher procedure.

About freaking time they start enforcing the law.

It won't be enforced until they start prosecuting the company owners, and management, subject them to massive fines and hard jail time.

2nd offense seize their companies and *all* of their assets.

There have been big changes in the last two years.

Please provide the list of all the company owners and their agents that have been charged, prosecuted, fined, and jailed. Then provide a list of those that continued to hire illegals that have had their businesses seized. I would really be interested in seeing this list.

Your mention of her prompted me to read up on her again.

She no doubt is a very unique individual.

She did receive an award from PETA; I consider PETA to be a very bad organization who has no room at all for animal agriculture. I would almost call PETA a terrorist organization; but I don't think they go that far.

Temple Grandin seems to be just fine with animal agriculture, but she wants it to be done a certain way.

It seems the meat industry sees a lot of value in her methods.

Lots of interesting stuff about her..

can't be lined up with any legitimate SS account

Actually, it frequently is lined up with a legit SS account. However, since it was earned under a different name, among other factors, the true SS holder still doesn't have access to that money (so, yeah, the government get is, for now).

If amnesty is given to the illegal immigrants, I would bet that, shortly thereafter, you will see a class action suit for the money in the accounts.

Finally, we ought not forget that there are victims in this too. If a child, whose number is compromised, applies for a scholarship (or other assistance) reserved for those with low incomes they may be denied when the scholarship issuer checks and earnings report and finds that the student has been earning $30,000 since they were two. Even if the issuer is confident that the identity has been stolen, his hands are probably tied and the student will loose the opportunity and have an identity theft mess to clean up.

The same scenario would apply to citizens and their children applying for public assistance and other public/private services reserved for various income levels.

Finally, the $30,000 figure I put up is probably low, since once an ID dealers get a good SS, they tend to sell it to several purchasers (one child had 27 people working off their SS in my state). With even 10 people using the number, $100,000 plus wouldn't be surprising.

ICE and SSA's E-Verify would take "plausible deniability" away (E-Verify reports who an SS# belongs to as well as their age and, if applicable, immigration status of a green card holder). However, mandating employers to use it is an uphill battle. I think Colorado and OK require it but in Utah we were barely able to get it mandated for employers contracting services with the State (very few employers). Even then the legislature delayed the mandate until 2009.

FWIW, E-Verify is web-base, free and quickly returns a result. Companies hiring or using illegal labor fight requiring the program tooth-and-nail on the legislative level.
