My friend and colleague David Karki is about as devoted to the United States Constitution, along with its principles of limited government, as anyone Ive ever known. And unlike the Ron Paul types who have tumbled from this perch headlong into international isolationism, Dave still recognizes and respects the blessing of American exceptionalism and our need to maintain a strong international presence including in Iraq, where he steadfastly supports American victory.
Now thats what I call a real conservative.
So why is David Karki OK with the prospect of Barack Obama becoming the 44th president of the United States? Its because American conservatives have become frustrated and grouchy, and some figure any result will be a disaster, so we might as well let the Democrats take the blame for it.

I could agree with this, but not this time. Barack or Hillary are way too dangerous to let anywhere near the White House.
Calabrese is right on.
conservatives have become frustrated and grouchy,
“Disrespected”
Culture has abused that word to the point I think of gang bangers and rappers whenever I read or hear it.

That, and "disenfranchised". That is one word I don't car if I ever hear again......
I disagree. The author assumes that we would refuse to support McCain out of selfishness. I refuse to support McCain, precisely because of my concern for our nation. A McCain presidency, while a short-term victory for the GOP, would lead to a long-term liberal victory, which would be a disaster for our nation.
McCain will not advance the cause of our nation, so why should we support him?
Because I don’t want to support the liberal establishment and I want to support conservatives only means I am selfish?
Call me selfish. McCain keeps distancing himself from me.
I will not apologize, or feel castigated, for being a conservative.
I'm in yer article correcting yer typos:
"And unlike the Ron Paul John McCain types who have tumbled from this perch headlong into international isolationism, interventionism"
One man's "isolationism" is another man's "non-interventionism".
We don't all believe One-World Socialism is "inevitible", nor desirable.
A great article, but now watch the “Principled Conservatives” come out from under their rocks to trash it!
That is apparently what the author of that article is saying - that we won’t support McCain because we are selfish.

Well said, FRiend.
“We controlled the White House and both houses of Congress for the first six years of this millennium, and hardly accomplished any of the agenda we had touted for the better part of 40 years. This is hard to admit, but it is true: An awful lot of those failed Republican congressmen were not moderates. They were conservatives who didnt have the guts to govern according to their principles.”
BTTT.
Personally, I still believe in the greatness of this nation being, in part, the resilience of its people.
The defense of the Republic is at stake... and that's the bottom line. As long as we can get a president who at least acknowledges the external/internal threats(and will use force)... we can later work to replace him/her with one who embraces conservatism.
Standing to lose more seats in the House and Senate... we will sorely need the presidential veto to stop the flood of socialist legislation/spending that will flow from Congress.
In November... I will hold my nose and vote for McCain.
I have a suspicion that by the time the libs are done implementing their policies of “change,” a lot of genuine conservatives are going to be heading for the doors. Panama, Costa Rica, other nations which are more free will begin to look better.
"Disrespected Conservatives..."
Anyone who uses the word "Disrespected" is a MORON and has the IQ of a stick.
Secondly mr 'Invisigoth', I don't know which one of these dopes at North Star Writers Group you are but your group's articles are sophomoric, tedious, and utterly insipid.
Lastly, why don't you guys find a real day job instead of spamming FR with this tripe no one else wants. As far as I'm concerned you and your buddies - who all signed up with FR on the same day - are TROLLS and should have gotten the Zot long ago for peddling junk from a glorified Blog.
No offense to Morons or Sticks intended.
I'm a realist and don't want a liberal agenda in the White House. However, I would rather see conservatives concentrate on the Senate and House and gain a majority in the congress. Unfortunately, with a Republican in the White House I'm afraid that party unity would trump conservative values, again and the amnesty fight and non effective energy policies would continue.
