An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale has hit China's Sichuan province. The tremor was felt across the entire region - shaking buildings in the capital, Beijing, as well as the Thai capital, Bangkok, and Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. US Geological Survey said the quake struck 57 miles north-west of the city of Chengdu at 2.29pm local time (6.28am GMT).
Some 10 million people live in Chengdu.

ok, i am from china.I can get through this site freely but I cant visit cnn foxnews bbc wikipedia google.com and so on and on and on.I think the reason my government didnt ban this site just because they have to ban so many sites that it is quite normal for them to miss one or two.
Today I translated your guys prayers and wishes into chinese and posted them on some chinese forums. Well,In fact , many chinese are moved, they never expect prayers from Americans because all their life they have been told that Americans are their enemies. I think some of them want to see your prayers with their own eyes, and others want to seek truth here as they dont trust their government. That’s why some chinese are here.

Nearest rescue team is still 100KM away from the earthquake center, since the shock center lies in the mountain area, and roads are blocked by earthquake, power, tele-communication broke off. We still can not get any information from the central disaster area. Air force has send 4 helicopters for observation, but they did not get to the destination and returned base due to heavy rain.
Latest victim reached 8533, and is regarded to increase as the whole picture of disaster be discovered!
nomatter how China gov deals with TW and Tibet, it has nothing to do with victims in the quake. i sincerely hope you do not mix both up.
