An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale has hit China's Sichuan province. The tremor was felt across the entire region - shaking buildings in the capital, Beijing, as well as the Thai capital, Bangkok, and Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. US Geological Survey said the quake struck 57 miles north-west of the city of Chengdu at 2.29pm local time (6.28am GMT).
Some 10 million people live in Chengdu.
THANK YOU for you praise,I wish someday I can speak english very well and accurately say anything I want to say
You put your heart into it.Sorry about your Father,(((Hugs)))
You are in Dalian? My husband has applied for a job there. I hope he will get it, but we won’t know until a few months from now.
I’m so sorry about all the deaths and injuries. I hope the weather improves and the rescues can be done very quickly.
Thank you Paul. That was a great resource. I appreciate it.
The Mississippi River changed course in at least one place due to those earthquakes or most likely because of the largest, and I have read that it actually ran backwards for a short period in some places. Yikes.
What concerns me these days is that there is now massive population in the area. And building codes back there are nothing like California’s. At least that’s my perception.
Take care.
No problem. Thanks again.
Hello,fatima,THANK YOU.I wanna go bed now,so tired.Bye-bye

Once a child is pulled from the rubble.
Firecrackers are set off to scare off any evil spirits.
(This will remain with me for the rest of my life each time I hear or light a firecracker)
That dam that was badly damaged may be a time bomb.
If they can no longer control its flow and there are heavy rains the water could well be rising behind a very damaged structure that can’t take it.
Wow! That was beautiful! I had to go get my 16 year old son to read it also. Please, know your country is in my prayers.
Prayers for the Chinese people.
Thank you both for an eloquent discussion, and especially for your help in understanding the disastrous consequences of this calamity in China.
My prayers and thoughts are with you, chinaboy and your countrymen, as you battle to recover from this. The American Red Cross — http://www.redcross.org/news/in/profiles/Intl_profile_ChinaEarthquake.html — is geared up to help in whatever way is needed, and through them all we Americans can help.
I dont know what to say....
Just tell me your agent identification number, and your commanding officer’s name, and we’re cool.
It is NOT MY disaster It is everybodys disaster!
Agreed. Of course — and let your superiors know — if your country tries to take Taiwan, the bigger disaster will be the nuclear exchange that will shortly follow.

The one who first did this was trying to let us know your reactions are very kind and friendly, and some of us have the wrong attitude of US.
I was so interested,so I came here and started to read.It was a really hard work for me because my English is terrible. And I am sorry for that.
I felt a little disappointed.
Most Americans are Christians, and feel warmly toward all peoples. It is individuals that we disdain. But, we are all subject to emotions and feelings. Each has an idea of how others live, even when it is not realistic. Many of our identification with Chinese is with Chines restaurants and food. The people are just those who prepare and serve it. Most do not spend time to meet and entertain those as guests. They are just serving a need, and a product.
I pray that there will be comfort to those with personal losses. More, I pray that our people will all gain peace... and familiarity!
Forgive those who display poor judgment in a time of despair, and hope! We are all part of a larger family.
Prayers to you and your people.
