I understand and partially agree with your comments in 158 and 160.

Eric, I’m not convinced that obama will lose big. He may lose, but McCain is going to suffer an awful lot of black eyes over the next seven months.

IMO, there is a mountain of fertile ground concerning McCain. The Obama folks aren’t going to leave a stone unturned. If you think this thread looks bad, you wait until a team goes to work on digging up John’s weaknesses.

One of the things that should begin to bother folks, is that McCain has shown a view that he shouldn’t go after his opponent on certain matters. Bush I tried that in 1992 and got his lunch handed to him.

We’ll see how it goes. It will be interesting.

BTW, I agree that Obama is an empty suit. You should know that there are millions of people out there who have waited their whole lives to see white males locked out of the White House. I wouldn’t sell those people short if I were you. Even those who wanted to see a woman in there are going to find a Black guy to be a great alternative.

You and I can see him for what he is, but don’t bet on the left doing that.

I agree with your comments on the Democrats regarding the electoral college. It’s a concept that’s a little too complex for the sharpest minds they have, using the term loosely.

Yout take care.

“Give me someone Conservatives can rally against, not someone who will subvert a large body of them.”

Yep. This is exactly why I’d rather see Obama in the White House than McCain.

There are NO substantial differences between the three candidates.

Wishful thinking seems to be the only criterion for differentiating McCain from the other two.

The general campaign process has been a series of insults and propaganda against moral conservatives. It’s part of a class war started by spoiled libertines, who would be as comfortable with Clinton again as McCain.

Thanks for your comments. I certainly agree.

I’m not sure exactly who is driving it if not individuals (of course accepting that some party hacks are undoubtedly having a good time here), but I do agree that they seem to be the victims of wishful thinking to a large extent.

I do think some of them are genuinely concerned about Obama or Clinton, and can’t see the forest for the trees.

“The war is unpopular with the left. The weak way Bush has been fighting the war is unpopular with the right. The right wants better fighting, which is what is happening now.”

All of the above statements are true. But the fact is that the surge came way too late. Peoples minds were made up long ago.

Bush has been incredibly inept both in prosecuting the war and explaining it to the American people. He has failed utterly in these things. It cannot be undone now.

Having lost many friends in Vietnam, the only question I want to ask a President before going to war is: “Are you ready to do whatever it takes to win this thing, regardless of the political winds?”

If the answer is no, then let’s all just go sit on the porch and have a few beers and forget about it.

CA-Bump to all that! Ahnold was a huge star and people wanted to be finally be a part of the celebration. They actually believed he was going to do the things he parroted off McClintock. Look where we are today!

If McCain picked Duncan Hunter as VP, I would be inclined to vote for him sine vomito but, if he picks somebody like Goober Grahamnesty, forget it. It's really unfortunate that the primary process (and by extension the modern GOP) had been set up in such a way that someone like McCain was guaranteed.

On the bright side, if McCain wins, a college freshman in 2009 will be able to play drinking games with the phrase "My Friends" until graduation.

Unfortunately, it will be like choosing between the lesser of two evils.

Actually, that was the last two POTUS election cycles. This go around we don't even get that good of a choice. This time, it's RINO Socialism or 'Rat Socialism. Take your pick....

A reminder about how many times your friend had stabbed Conservative Republicans in the back for his selfish advancement in the eyes of Big Media and Democrat elites and Hollywood Liberals.

Agree. McInsane can do what Obama can never do: Permanently convert the GOP to a leftist party. Somewhere, Soros is laughing at all these self described “conservatives” willing to pull the lever for McInsane.

I’d rather see us pulled out of Iraq, than see McCain sign on to globalist issues conserning our sovereignty here at home. If you want to talk about something our troops fought for in vain, let me tell you that our independence, sovereignty and self-dtermination woudl be the penicle for me.

So you're an ideologue and really don't carry about the sacrifices made. I should have guessed that from the start. Have you considered that "Conservative principles at any cost" isn't conservative thinking at all? Look at Ron Paul or is that what you intended? Please remember that every move a President makes is not voted upon by Congress. Get back to me when Obama is negotiating with Iran and Venezuela, Hamas and all the enemies he has promised to have sit downs with as he advances his Marxist agenda. I know, there will be a huge outpouring of Conservative backlash...I also dreamed of that during the primary season when it never happened.

I understand, but the troops’ sacrifices for America are for the Constitution that defines America, and McCain doesn’t seem to care sufficiently about it.
Two examples, we have laws about citizenship and freedom of speech that he has actively tried to thwart or defy.
I could give examples of very bad leaders who were pro-military...

What other choice has he? An outright Democrat?

If he had a conservative veep, it wouldn't take 4 years for a situation to develop where the veep must either turn on McCain or publicly betray his own conservative principles.

Thus, it's doubtful McCain would select someone with integrity to be his veep, when he can't depend on that man to support him in his inevitable McCainical endeavors*. And in the unlikely event McCain does pick a conservative, I'd immediately get skeptical of that person.

I'll give an example of a "leader" who is anti-military, anti-American, anti-capitalist, pro-Marx...Obama

You're willing to risk putting the country in his hands, and hope for the second coming of Reagan. Good luck with that.

There is no strategy for the current situation, as it was set in stone by the method of selecting our candidates for POTUS. The mistake already occurred. We need a national primary day, with closed primaries.

In Minnesota, I do not have a vote because there are no choices left by the time I am allowed to “vote.” The choice for me is easy, I am irrelevant as a voter, no matter how much I care. My vote can never affect the outcome.

The party leadership know that this is the impact, but have the primaries the way they do so that they can dictate the outcome of the votes and direct the candidate we are to vote for, while making it seem as though it is a true democracy.

One man, one vote...the first few states votes to count, and every other vote to confirm.

Don't expect me to accept the resulting choices for candidates for the greater food of the country. If the Republicans cared about the greater good of the country, they would not structure the primaries so, and they would give everyone a chance to vote for a conservative when it actually mattered.

The Republican Party is responsible for this terrible dilemma, and I am not responsible for the outcome of the vote...The party wanted it this way, not they can have it this way.
