Democrats bristle at talking about this in plainer terms. They say Sen. Hillary Clinton has found her base -- the "working class." That's why she won in the Rust Belt primaries. That's her great hope in Kentucky and West Virginia.
But calling Clinton's strategy one of kowtowing to the "working class" doesn't quite say it, does it? Isn't this just old-fashioned racism within the Democratic Party?
When Hillary strategists say they are winning the "working class," they don't mean they are winning working people with a household income of, say, less than $50,000. All the exit polls show quite clearly that lower middle-class people who work split between Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. Clinton. The difference is generally skin color. Hillary wins the lion's share of the "working-class" white Democrats. And, sadly, as Hillary's campaign has become meaner and more to the point, that margin has become bigger.
The Clinton racism strategy first became apparent in Nevada, when her struggling campaign began to publicly talk about her "Hispanic firewall" against Obama among the rank-and-file in the Culinary union. It hit the national consciousness soon thereafter when former President Bill Clinton, after Hillary lost the South Carolina primary, dismissed Obama's big win as a race-inspired victory akin to Jesse Jackson's success in that state years ago.
So, I guess having a job is a code word for “white”.
Like Bill Clinton’s being “the first black president.” “Black” is code for “trash.”
What is going to happen is that anyone who does not vote for Obambi is going to be called a racist.
Liberals are just falling all over themselves for this guy because he’s black. That’s truly racist. He isn’t qualified.
Yelling “racist” or “bigot” at voters who aren’t going to vote for him anyway is just going to polarize the entire presidential race and alienate people who might have voted for Obambi even more.
They can’t help themselves. The race issue is going to take center stage because it has been center stage in American culture and life for over 40 years. The politically correct culture, and we all remember Bill Clinton’s national discussion on race in the 90’s, is going to come to head and those who pound others daily with the cries of “bigot” are going to find massive deafness on the part of those who are thoroughly sick of it.
Most people operate on good will and calling them names because they disagree is a losing tactic. But, again, the liberals and their media shills cannot help themselves.
This is truly hilarious, watch for Hillary ‘Sheets’ Clinton, to say in her ‘last shriek’ address to her constituents; “Working class (wink wink nudge nudge) today, working class tomorrow, working class FOREVER!”
The irony is the media can make statements all day long such as, “Obama is expected to well in those areas of the state with a heavy African American population” and that has nothing to do with race. But if Hillary points out that she is winning the white vote (albiet not by the 92% that Obama wins the black vote by) and it is somehow a racist statement.
Not that I have any sympathy for the Hildabeast.
Hill - it won’t happen. The left and its publishing arm, the media, has chosen Obama because he is more leftist than you, a committed marxist.
Exactly what I was going to say. If she’s racist for recognising her support base then he is vastly more so.
*snicker*
I was just wondering out loud the other day, when we’d start hearing about conservatives being racists again. I figured they’d wait until they had a nominee (maybe they think they do now).
If Obama loses, it will turn into 4 years of “McCain won because of racists whites”
We must get beyond racism—Its not about Black or white. There are lots of Blacks Conservatives would vote for—Condi Rice, Bill Cosby, Colin Powell to name a few. The truth is Obama if a FOOL. I don’t want an inexperience knucklehead in the Oval Office black or white.
Wow, never thought about the CoZ as a candidate.
Perhaps, but I think the backlash from such a baseless accusation is going to knock the left on it's collective butt.
Those are "fighting words" and I wouldn't stand for anything to even insinuate it of me. It would bring out the worst in me...
Her best hope is OBAMA’s racism.
Right now they don't recognize that Obama, et al, are no better than the Hillary types. There's still hope.
Yes, I suppose that's true. But it's not fixed on the person who said Bill Clinton was "black" because he was illegitimate, promiscuous, dishonest, gluttonous, and so on. Life is weird.
It would have been more accurate if I'd said, "Black, in that context, is code for "trash."
